- ALL TRUSSED UP...In World Outside The Window·6 September 2022Well, it seems we've swapped a Pound Shop Trump for a Pound Shop Thatcher. Ding dong, the witch ain't dead... The only saving grace is that Truss will more or less guarantee that the Tories will lose the next general election. And about friggin' time too. 😛811760
- Electra - Available to pre-order from Burning Shed!In William's World·14 April 2022It has been patiently awaiting its turn to be released upon the world, but the wait will soon be over. Burning Shed are now taking pre-orders for Electra, a guitar instrumental album that Bill recorded back in 2016... Unfortunately we haven't got the audio samples on Dreamsville yet...but they will hopefully appear on the album's page soon!519866

- PhotosIn World Outside The Window21 March 2025Thanks. I looked down and saw what appeared to be at first glance a map. Then a moment later it was a painting of hill, tree and sky. A third of a second later it was simply a pleasant display of colours and textures.1
- Bandcamp Friday requestIn William's World·1 April 2022I have really enjoyed filling the gaps in my collection through Bandcamp Fridays. Unfortunately, the last three have been releases I already have. (I guess that was bound to happen.) So I thought I would put up a request. Demonstrations of Affection (I found the disk Details in a used record shop, but it would be great to get the rest.) Blue Moons and Laughing Guitars Confessions of a Hyperdreamer Atom Shop That's all for now. But I'm sure that other have gaps in their collections. Maybe we can all vote on the next Bandcamp Friday release?421702
- Another Deluxe Box in the works? In William's World·10 March 2020Savoring the Sunburst Finish, Futurama, and Modern Music boxes sustained my appetite for BBD nostalgia through 2019. But, well, we are knee deep in 2020 now and I hope it is not too gluttonous of me to start to hanker for another portion. Any thoughts, rumors, conjecture, or petitions to sign?421930
- MY PRIVATE COSMOS ARRIVING SOON!In William's World·9 December 2021I've been informed that my personal copies of 'My Private Cosmos' will be arriving tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing how this luxury package has turned out. Fans who pre-ordered the album should be receiving their copies very soon. This is the most lavish project I've released on my own label and will hopefully provide many hours of listening pleasure to those who have ordered it. 😉1291207

- Ripping YarnsIn World Outside The Window17 March 2025I forgot how Michael Palin and Ensemble had the magic ability to get us to care about all these characters. Eric Olthwaite could’ve become a spinoff. It’s dreamy to behold is Denley Moor. According to Wikipedia, the filming locations scenes were filmed at Beamish, Sacriston, Tow Law, and High Force, all in County Durham. The good people of Denley Moor remind me something of the good people of Trumpton.18
- My Private Cosmos - initial impressionIn William's World22 December 2021One thing that remains true is an artist's personality and character, it's this that lives in his art. I remember reading an interview with John Lennon where he said that every time he went into the studio he wanted to sound like Elvis or Chuck Berry or Little Richard but was always disappointed when he ended up sounding just like John Lennon. There's no escaping the fact that we are who we are. We might dream of being Prince, or David Bowie, or Elton John, Elvis, Dylan or whoever, (especially when we're starting out and haven't quite found our own style and voice yet,) but we can't escape the reality of who we really are, and that reality stamps a kind of trademark' on the music. We can explore things within that 'brand' to a degree but it will always be recognisable as ourselves. John Peel once said to me that you've developed your own voice when your Mum can recognise you on the radio. People often tell me that they only have to hear a few notes of my guitar to know that it's me and not, (for instance,) Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix or Jeff Beck, (despite me having been inspired by all those players.) So, no matter what you aspire to, or who you wish you were, you're stuck with yourself. And that's something worth embracing and cherishing. It's called originality.😉114

- Red Noise re-issueIn William's World·25 August 2020Hello, I've been thoroughly enjoying the Be Bop box set re-issues from Cherry Red. I noticed they have a link on the contacts page to suggest future releases and I'd love to see the Red Noise album get the full treatment. There was definitely some live recordings as the expanded remastered version showed us...surely there's more in the vault. so...if you're like me, trundle over to the Cherry Red website and request a Red Noise re-issue. best Dick3232606

- PhotosIn World Outside The Window21 March 2025Yeah, it's like looking at cloud formations. Initially I saw a wreath in the shape of a cross, then I saw a naked Homer Simpson, from behind, with outstretched arms, wearing a diaper😲... Then, same as your good self, instantly back to reality and just a nice image of flowers, leaves and greenery.1

- New fan hereIn William's World·19 February 2021Last month, I saw that Bill Nelson had released an album of material from the 80s, and since my major association with him is a fond memory of Flaming Desire, I thought it would be worth buying. And if I’m already putting in an order, I should check out his more recent material, which led me to Palace of Strange Voltages. (I think I got the last copy, or close to), But these are long form instrumentals, an album of songs might be more representative, and the clips from The Dreamshire Chronicles sound pretty good. OK, I’ll get that as well. End result. I loved all three and, in my next order from Burning Shed, I got Old Haunts, which I also loved. I think that when I order from them again, probably a pre-order for Dazzlebox, I’ll get a Be-Bop Deluxe album or two. I’m not crazy about multi-disc sets that have multiple mixes of an album but they’re two-disc sets for the price of a single disc, so I can’t complain.517371
- Ripping YarnsIn World Outside The Window18 March 2025There's really not much in common but I felt like watching an episode of Trumpton after that, which I didn't.1

- Get Well Soon Mr. NelsonIn William's World11 January 2022Many thanks for all the well wishes from everyone. I'm pleased to say that the operation went well and I'm now in recovery mode with a 'bionic' lense in my eye and on a two week course of two kinds of eye drops to aid the healing process and to hopefully stop my body rejecting the plastic implant. The improvement in my eye is slight but noticeable. I'm probably going to have my right eye operated on at a future date.103
- Fake albums on eBayIn William's World·26 April 2024It has been brought to my attention that there are fake copies of Bill's CDs being sold on eBay! We saw this a couple of years ago with fake copies of 'Custom Deluxe', the same is happening again now with fake copies of 'Dreamland To Starboard'. Please be aware and proceed with caution if you are looking to fill gaps in your Bill Nelson collection!419377
- CHARLIE WATTS RIP.In William's World·24 August 2021I'm shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts today. I've always had great respect for him as a drummer. He had a side line to the Stones in that he ran a jazz big band, a sort of hobby project but one which was clearly close to his heart. He dressed immaculately and looked more like a jazz musician than a rock n' roll drummer, but his rock solid backbeat and economical style was the perfect compliment to the Stones more flamboyant front line. I just can't imagine the band with any other person in the drum chair other than Charlie Watts. Strangely, many years ago in the very early Be Bop Deluxe days, I was apparently being considered as a second guitarist in the Rolling Stones, at least according to a New Musical Express or Melody Maker news item back then. I don't think for one minute I would have fitted the band, but playing alongside Charlie would have been an honour. And in more recent years, bizarrely, he requested to become one of my Facebook 'friends', though we never communicated. Yet again, it's deeply depressing to lose another musician of this caliber. These things are inevitable as the years melt away, but I don't have to like it. Accepting it is so hard, but we have no choice in the matter. Consciousness of our own ultimate demise carries a cruelty that is inexhaustible and inescapable. Rest in peace Charlie...88487
- Ripping YarnsIn World Outside The Window18 March 2025I've not seen an episode of Trumpton for a very long time either. (you should have watched one). I think I'll compile a list of ones to watch this weekend, including Trumpton, and Mary, Mungo and Midge...perhaps even an original Captain Pugwash. Episode 2 of Ripping Yarns tonight..😁1
- WHY A LONG GAP IN NEWS ABOUT A NEW ALBUM OR TWO?In William's World·9 September 2020Things have been stressful and complicated these last couple of months, mainly because of having to deal with the disposal of my Mother's belongings, a task which has been the main focus of my attentions. It's been somewhat traumatic and emotional. I've somehow lost the enthusiasm for dealing with the release of new albums, of which there are many waiting in the wings for mastering and artwork. A hell of a lot of unheard music which deserves to reach the ears of those who are ready for it. And then there are even newer recordings using my relatively recent Cubase software installation. There are approaching over 100 new tracks, all of which require sorting though, sorting out and allocating to individual albums. All of this unheard material overwhelms what has been released before. It redefines, restructures and moves my music on again. A challenge to listeners perhaps, but a fresh perspective for me and a continuing evolution of the work. The loss of enthusiasm has nothing to do with the music but is entirely due to my depression after my Mother's passing. I will, I hope, conquer this dark mood in time. But for now, my one solace is to continue to record, over and over. Because when I'm giving myself to the creative moment, all worries pass away, at least for a while.95637
- Bill Nelson CD Haul!In William's World·11 May 2024There’s a fairly new record store about 40 minutes from me, and I visited for the first time about a month ago. I’ve been back a couple of times since, because each time (including the first) I’ve found some Bill albums I don’t already own. The owner said they bought a big CD collection recently from a woman whose husband had recently passed. He obviously had excellent taste, because in addition to all the BN there was a bunch of David Sylvian (which I also bought), King Crimson, No-Man, Yes, and other “progressive” music from the 70s to the present day. I probably spent $200 over 3 or 4 separate trips, but considering what I got I think that was a steal! (I tried to post a pic, but it won’t let me, so I’ll list the BN I got below.) Noise Candy box set The Last of the Neon Cynics Illuminated At Dusk Fables and Dreamsongs Modern Moods for Mighty Atoms The Dreamshire Chronicles Pedalscope Transcorder Old Haunts Simplex Live at Metropolis Studios Nudity Automatic (Channel Light Vessel) Excellent Spirits (Channel Light Vessel)95463
- 2-D FractalsIn World Outside The Window·24 February 2025The Mandelbulber 3D fractal program is way awesome, way more involved than I have time for, and people are taking it waaaaay farther than I would ever ....have time to, so I went back to an old 2-D program- Jalada- that I used up until 2016. I can get it to spit out a series of zooms of one fractal in half an hour. It's instant gratification eye candy.22477
