- "Two-Fold Aspect of Everything" download: Remastered? In William's World20 January 2025Also just noticed that when you go to the Bandcamp site to purchase the download, they're listing the 1-disc UK edition from 1989. So I'm thinking that's what's on offer here. A disappointment, in light of the continued delays for the "Quit Dreaming" box set. Guess for now I'll just stay with my 2-disc Enigma CDs and my vinyl copy. But happy to be wrong. Would love some clarity here.28

- Single Track of the DayIn World Outside The Window11 June 2024This is one of my top 10 favourite Motörhead tracks! (could be top 5)...and you've now given me an excuse to post this live Motörhead performance video, recorded in late '84.....&, This is my favourite ever live performance of theirs (no matter what line-up), and I've seen many....the location/situation really helps the whole impact of it...It rocks! Oh, and nearly forgot, this is the best version ever, of Killed By Death, imo, any studio or live performance, this is the Daddy!!..i.e. the live version below. I'll let Lemmy set the scene (Killed By Death is the 2nd track, at 03:10) "Back in England, before starting off on our tour to promote "No Remorse" (it had come out in the UK the month before), we made an appearance on ITV's "Saturday Starship" (a kids' Saturday morning show - the successor to "TisWas"). Apparently some people complained because we were rehearsing early in the morning for the show in the station's parking lot. I don't know what the problem was - 8:30 AM was the time they gave us to rehearse and they put the stage up in the parking lot for us." - Lemmy Motörhead - "The Saturday Starship" (5th October 1984)Motörhead - "The Saturday Starship" (5th October 1984) 00:00 Iron Fist 03:10 Killed By Death 08:33 Ace of Spades 11:01 Steal Your Face 14:13 Overkill2
- Keyboard Based Album in Future? In William's World·24 November 2019Pardon me if this question has been asked recently, as I've been away for awhile. As I await delivery of the Old Haunts CD I've been on a Bill Nelson listening jag. Two of my sentimental favorites are Bill's re-imagined soundtracks for Caligari and Belle et la Bete. It got me to wondering if Bill has any plans to record a keyboard centered album anytime in the future. I for one would LOVE it. Also, Best wishes to your mother and you Bill. My mom and mother-in-law are both in their 90s. My wife is caregiver for her mother, who we moved in with us after she suffered a stroke several years ago. My heart goes out to you and Emi.28223
- Fil from Wings of Pegasus give his analysis of Bill Nelson's playing and Be Bop Deluxe from their Old Grey Whistle Test performance in 1976In William's World·2 September 2019Since one or two of us have been discussing Be Bop Deluxe during the Modern Music era, in the 'Remember your first Be-Bop gig?' thread, I thought this might be of interest. I think Fil gives a really good appraisal of Bill's playing, technique, song composition, structure and direction etc and the band's overall dynamics...You can see he is really enjoying the performance, in particular Bill's guitar playing. To be fair, we all know how good Be Bop were and we've all seen this OGWT performance, and they absolutely nail it, as usual, 'Down On Terminal Street' is perfect and a great recording...And Fil does touch upon Bill's later/current work, which is obviously a plus....I've been checking out this guy's videos for a while on YouTube and they really are a pleasure to watch.28533

- Happy Heavenly Birthday Mick KarnIn World Outside The Window·24 July 2023Mick would have been 65 years old today. His bass playing was sublime and he had such a unique and instantly recognizable sound, which really was the 'magic-ingredient' in Japan's own unique formula. He remains a favourite musician of mine and it's hard to believe 12 years has gone since his passing. Japan - Quiet Life28104

- Live Track of the DayIn World Outside The Window19 June 2023I've been listening to the latest Sparks, The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte, and it's fitting that they released it on Island Records. Much of the album reminds me of that period with Island, '74-'76. 😎2

- King Electric BlueIn The World And His Wife·18 January 2021Hello, we are an up and coming band called king electric blue (name is a work in progress). The members currently include users Frippp , mucki :3 and myself of course. We are a band separated by the sea, as we live in different countries, but we won't let that stop us! Currently Frippp is doing drums (as a joke), mucki :3 is the guitarist, and I'm keys/vocals, that might change in the future though. If anyone is interested in being involved, you can ask us! (also, we're looking at art rock/prog rock styles)35110

- Charlie's Fretless BassIn William's World·9 April 2023Now here's a thing apparently Charlie planned to play fretless bass on Drastic Plastic but was delivered a standard fretted bass, they got hold of a fretless neck but couldn't make it fit in France (Juan-le-Pins). What would DP have sounded like with Charlie's fretless bass! Magnificent I should imagine, the mind boggles. 😍🙂35259

- Another Deluxe Box in the works? In William's World2 August 2024From the latest Dreamsville email newsletter: "There are whispers in the hills that the good people at Esoteric Recordings have put together a nice collection for a re-mastered Quit Dreaming And Get On The Beam box set...keep your eyes peeled for more news about this over the coming weeks!" The timing makes sense, as I finally tracked down a 2005 Quit Dreaming CD a few weeks ago. 🙄35

- Bill Nelson/Be Bop Deluxe in Ian McNabb videoIn William's World·7 December 2019Well firstly, this is a superb song from the wonderful and hugely talented Ian McNabb, called 'Makin' Silver Sing' (think guitars strings), from the excellent 'Our Future In Space' album (highly recommended)...so it's definitely worth a listen. The promo video features brief glimpses of some of the worlds finest and most talented and accomplished artists/musicians/guitar players and I'm pleased to say Bill Nelson (and Simon Fox), Modern Music tour footage, is featured! and quite rightly keeping the exalted company he deserves and indeed has earned over the decades..and seeing this brief glimpse of Bill in this company, it just 'seems right'..although I'm pretty sure Bill would downplay that, I think it is the right gravitas that Bill should be regarded in...He should be more widely recognised in the very top tier of world class musicians, and I think in the last few years has received and indeed is receiving much more recognition an acknowledgment on that front. We all know Bill shuns the celebrity limelight and all that jazz, and I think we all appreciate that stance..I imagine to Bill, art is it's own reward, creating, striving to progress, move forwards, looking to catch perfection, or as close as one can get. 'Makin' Silver Sing' doesn't really need any explanation, there are some wonderful guitar players / musicians in this video and I do happen to know how highly Ian McNabb regards Bill Nelson... So, it's a great song to listen to and pretty much the perfect video to accompany it... I hope others may enjoy watching, and listening to it!35292

- Campbell American Nelsonic Transitone GP Nov 2007In William's World·8 September 2021While perusing an old Guitar Player magazine (Nov 2007) I ran across a review of the Campbell American Nelsonic Transitone. Not sure if it was posted here previously so I have included the sidebar that Bill wrote. I never got to play one. However I recently acquired the Eastwood Astroluxe Cadet. The cream/red color combo and atom inlays were maintained.35422
- Single Track of the DayIn World Outside The Window5 February 2021Golden Earring RIP? It seems that guitarist George Kooymans is seriously ill (not stated what ails him) and can't play anymore. That may mark the end of Golden Earing. The same 4 guys have played together for 50 years now. Be Bop Deluxe was the opener Golden Earring and Slade back in April 1976 at Winterland in SF. Radar Love was good but this one is a true classic in my book Golden earring - Twilight zone One of my all-time favorite lyrics: Where am I to go, now that I've gone too far?
