- Rip Ted KaczynskiIn World Outside The Window·10 June 2023Theodore John Kaczynski (/kəˈzɪnski/ kə-ZIN-skee; May 22, 1942 – June 10, 2023), also known as the Unabomber (/ˈjuːnəbɒmər/), was a controversial domestic terrorist and mathematics professor. throughout his career, hé garnered controversy for his opposition to political correctness and for wounding dozens of people by placing bombs in their mailboxes with the intent to kill them. Publications such as Rolling Stone revered Ted for his preeminence in noticing the failures of industrial society. In 1962 he enrolled at the University of Michigan, where he earned both a master's and doctorate degree in mathematics. His speciality was complex analysis, which he was considered unusually driven towards. But this special interest wouldn't last long, as a mere decade after his enrollment, he would move into an electricity-ridden cabin where he would start his new passion: political philosophy. His ultimate fixation was Jacques Ellul and his 1974 opus The Technological Society. Thé climax of his political activity started in 1978 when he started planting bombs in enemy's mailboxes, intending to kill them. It put him on the map. But all good things must come to an end. in 1996, merely one year after Yann Tomita released his magnum opus Doopee Time, Kaczynski was arrested in his cabin, which was thoroughly searched. He spent the rest of his life in prison, until June 10, 2023, when he died. His influence on political philosophy, mathematics, and mailboxes will never be forgotten.314255

- Bill Nelson song compilationIn William's World·16 July 2019I've made myself various Bill Nelson 'compilation CDs for my own pleasure over the years. Just the thing to have in the car, rather than having dozens of separate CDs. Making up a compilation CD isn't as easy a task as it might at first seem, due to the amount of material to chose from. I also can see why Bill spends such a time getting the running order of his releases to his liking. It's a real balancing act to get the 'flow' and 'feel' of a CD just right. You don't want tracks that jarr against each other. Hopefully I've got a good balance of soft and hard with this running order. Here's a CD that I've called, 'Songs From Over The Years'. It's a constant companion in my car. Have you made up your own CD of faves? I'd be interested to see what you've chosen. Sex Magic I Hear Electricity Tonight Picasso Dreams The Land Of Dreams Is Closed God Man Slain Mystery Vortex (Oberon Touchstone) No Time Says The Clock Where Are We Now The Flower Thief Heaven Takes No Prisoners Slumberlite She Dreams Of Fires When Accident Became My Bride Once More Around The Moon The Silver Darkness Whispers Yes The Golden Days Of Radio (Compact Mix) Big Yellow Moon Angels In Arcadia If only CDs could hold slightly more data, then I'd also include, The Invisible Man And The Unforgettable Girl and my personal combination mix of ... 'Down Comes The Rain', with - 'More Rain' cleverly spliced into the middle of it. I use Adobe Audition for this kind of jiggery-pokery. I must loudly state here that this compilation CD is just for my own listening pleasure. Looks like I'll be making up another fave song collection.314611

- PhotosIn World Outside The Window5 September 2023I never purchased pre-recorded audio cassettes. I purchased blank cassettes, and ported over copies of the vinyl albums I’d purchased, as well as making a bunch of mix tapes. Otherwise, it was right from LPs to CDs. .3
- PowertronIn William's World·25 August 2024Powertron. Wow,Bill,I'm not being a wise guy with you,but who lit a fire under you? This one is just first class, from opening to closing number. I have been following your music since 76?,and in my humble opinion, this is up there with The Love that Whirls,Crimsworth,New Vibrato Wonderland, and some others. I can see (I think), why you put these songs in this collection as you did. These songs drive! The guitar work, the guitars used, the blending of the guitars(and that is an art unto itself), the songs themselves, the vocals, all is first class. I remember when I heard your "Jet Pack Jive" (not on this CD),and I thought, now here is a driving piece of music! I have to say,Fascinating Noise, and the others, are right up there with JPJ. I'm not big on raving, for no one likes every thing that is on a cd,but if ever a cd was worth raving about: Powertron is it.73301

- Hello from a new fanIn William's World·24 June 2022Hello everyone! I’m a relatively new fan, having just gotten into Bill’s music through Be Bop Deluxe in the last year or two. I’ve managed to find a few of Bill’s solo albums from the 80s and have enjoyed those just as much as Be Bop, and I’m looking forward to exploring his more recent output through the Bandcamp page. Bill, if you read this post: thank you for your wonderful music, and for continuing to make it over the years. I appreciate the way you continue to experiment and follow the muse wherever it leads. I also admire the way you interact with your fans—not all artists are as open and generous as you are! It’s unlikely I’ll ever make it to a Nelsonica gathering (since I live in the U.S.), but thanks for making this digital space available for us to discuss your music. I’m looking forward to learning from and chatting with you all here on the forum! Cheers, Simon73288

- MOJO October 2022 ''Sound On Sound'' InterviewIn William's World·11 August 2022MOJO October 2022 ''Sound On Sound'' Interview I Thought this news relevant whilst Bill is in hiatus/healing he is still putting out 'twigs'/'branches' of press communication. I am guessing due to the re release and launch of ''sound on sound'' imminent on Esoteric, there is a piece in the brand new MOJO Magazine October 2022 Kate Bush Hounds of love cover not yet in the shops until next tuesday He's in conversation with James McNair about splitting the Be Bop Deluxe and doing his 'thing' I am quite baffled as to why they've never offered Bill a Front Cover after 24 years in print i suppose due to the sheer volume of music would be extremely hard to cover but i say not impossible!!4111022

- In conversation with the quiet side of life.... (Request for advice please.)In William's World·7 March 2019So, a lapsed, long term Bill fan here. My first BN album was Getting the Holy Ghost Across bought from Boots in York on account of the 'what the hell is going on here' cover?!! (Not remotely religious but always deeply spiritual....) I then bought pretty much everything post BeBop days and some of the early Bill stuff is still my favourite. Joined the Cocteau Club and somewhere in the attic are a load of 7" singles. I think my last vinyl album was probably Optimism then my musical tastes drifted off in other directions and I lost touch. Over the years I did pick up four or five other albums on CD - Buddha Head, Electricity Made Us Angels, Captain ????'s Circus (!), After the Satellite Sings but that was about it. This Christmas my present from my wife was money to 'indulge' in music, video-games, books etc etc of my choice. I took a punt on Quiet Bells which is now an absolute favourite and recently I bought Auditoria which, again, I very much enjoy. Now, my favourite Bill stuff has always been the more instrumental, ambient, introverted(?), spiritual music - I do love the sheer energy, creativity and invention of the two 'bookend' discs of Auditoria but I am naturally drawn to disc 2. In the same vein I always loved the instrumental pieces of The Love That Whirls and discs like Chance Encounters, singles like Villefranche, albums such as Simplex, Map of Dreams etc are still firm favourites. I saw Bill and Ian perform Altar Pieces at Wakefield Cathedral years ago and cassette number 306 is sitting on my bookshelf. (Had the Channel Light Vessel stuff too.) Anyway, long story, cut to the chase. I'm wondering what I've missed, in terms of albums like Quiet Bells, whilst I've been away? What would be people's recommendations? I hope I've described the type of Bill's music I most love clearly enough?? I was tempted by Silvertone Fountains the other day but it's currently unavailable. And finally, thank you Bill, thank you for all the wonderful music over the years. So much pleasure and thoughtful 'brain candy'.119719
- Earliest live recording? In William's World·26 July 2020What is the earliest known live recording of Bill playing? I'm assuming it's with BBD, but even then, how early in the band's career did anyone keep a gig recording which has survived (however illegally)? I know Bill is no fan of such recordings so this isn't a sharing request, just a straight, factual one. Thanks for any info you can provide.119592
