- Look at the state we're in...In World Outside The Window29 May 2021I'm constantly amused by the fact that so many American's seem terrified of the word 'socialist' whilst wishing for an autocratic, lying, far right wing government that sees corruption as acceptable and lies as a means of manipulating those that vote for them. It's sick and deeply disturbing. Too me, and to any decent, rational human being, it's transparently sly, devious and cynical. They seem to think that their voters are dupes, saps to be taken advantage of and manipulated, exploiting innocence and ignorance for their own power lust and monetary benefit. It's shameful and yet people fall for it. Some gullible folks are, unfortunately, far too quick to swallow conspiratorial falsehoods spread by crazy fools on the internet. I'm not attracted to right wing ideologies in the least. They have no appeal whatsoever. It's a political movement that, in my opinion, has had it's day and will, when a better future arrives, seem as antiquated and damaging to people's health as smoking cigarettes. And I'm not a Marxist either. Viva la revolution! 🤣63

- Down On Terminal Street CoverIn The World And His Wife·30 August 2021I'm new to this forum but not the Dreamsville site. Bill Nelson is the reason I became a guitar player back in 1977. He literally changed the direction of my life through his music. Here is my cover version tribute to Bill and Be-Bop Deluxe. "Down on Terminal Street" Ironically besides my vocals, the entire song was done with virtual instruments in my home studio on a PC. No guitars were harmed! Enjoy! Cheers, Marco48122
- Listening to the lotIn William's World·16 February 2020Having been a big fan in the 70s (saw BBD at Liverpool Empire 1976) then losing touch, then coming back 3 years ago to discover Bill's astonishing output over the years, and being blown away by him twice at the Clothworkers, today I started on a bonkers project I've been thinking about for ages. To listen to the lot, chronologically, working from a discography. This can't include all versions and obscurities etc, I know! But at least all the available albums. Call me crazy! (no don't :-) np: https://www.billnelson.com/sounding-the-ritual-echo cheers! Toby48362

- DOCTOR NELSON INTRODUCES THE DOCTORS OF MADNESS...In William's World·19 July 2019Two very good friends of mine are involved in this new recording: Richard Strange, (who some fans will recall from the '70s band 'Doctors Of Madness' who supported Be Bop Deluxe' on one of our early tours,) and John Leckie who co-produced Be Bop's albums with me, (as well as producing the Doctors). This is a new song and rails against the rise of right-wing politics in the world today. Great stuff...check it out! ;-) "Doctors of Madness new single 'Make It Stop!’ Produced by John Leckie and featuring backing vocals by Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, and protest singer Lily Bud, is an impassioned howl against the global drift to right wing extremism and persecution of minorities. It is out today. Listen, playlist and buy here: https://smarturl.it/DoMMakeItStop see the video here for the first time https://youtu.be/i_M24YITt8E "48804

- Bill Nelson back catalog CD's, not downloadsIn William's World·15 August 2020I wish there was some way of buying Mr. Nelson's back catalog CD's without being raped by greedy merchants. I don't want downloads. I don't do downloads. I want that physical CD in my hands just the way that it was originally released and presented to his fans by Bill Nelson. I am Old School - I do not want my music collection resting in some dubious hard drive somewhere or burned to a CD-R. 500 print run - I get that (but I don't like it). Example: Roughly $200.00 (incudes tax and shipping to the U.S.) for a Near Mint copy of "Perfect Monsters" that was released in 2016? And a physical CD copy of the lovely "Custom Deluxe" - good luck finding a Near Mint copy without paying a greedy merchant's "fair" price. I know, I know - supply and demand. I just want to own CD's of Bill Nelson's exquisite musical output. Thank God I was in the loop and pre-ordered a copy of "The Jewel" (fantastic album) from Burning Shed when it first posted - check out prices now on the Internet for that 500 CD print run delicacy. I want them all - in Near Mint condition or something close to that. Yes, I am an anal retentive music collecting completist for Bill Nelson's music - I just wish I'd been in the loop about 10-15 years ago. Unfortunately I was in the dark until about a year ago that Bill Nelson had such an abundant solo career. Playing catch up now. It is very costly. How about Esoteric re-releasing some of these out-of-print gems? "Noise Candy" is one of my music prized possessions. By the way, I've been avidly buying and collecting music that I want since 1971. I am an old fart.116450

- A MEMORY ON CHRISTMAS EVE...In William's World·24 December 2019This post actually has little to do with Christmas Eve but I make no apology for its nostalgic recollections... In the 1950s, as a child and a young boy, I spent quite a quite few holidays in Blackpool, on the North West coast of England. On those long ago holidays with my mum and dad, we went to many concerts at theatres in the town, some on the three piers, and some at other venues. One of the venues we attended was 'The Winter Gardens,' with its wonderful Art Deco and Victorian interior design. There, my parents took me to see many of the classic English performers, from Arthur Askey, Tommy Trinder, Vera Lynn, David Whitfield, Alma Cogan, Frank Ifield, even Tony Hancock, etc, though to Freddie and The Dreamers, the Dave Clark Five, Cilla Black and many others. Some of those acts were relatively new at the time, some more well established. All seemed magical to me as a child, and as a young boy. How much impact did those long ago experiences have on my formative life as a musician? I think of myself as a modernist, even a Futurist, but at the same time, I keep an affectionate eye on the past. Blackpool remains, in my memory at least, a fantastical and magical holiday environment. Sadly now though, I hear it has become seriously downgraded and, despite modern technological-based attractions, is now a sad reflection of its glory days. Here is a photo' of a plaque, situated in The Winter Gardens, commemorating headline acts that appeared there over the years. I was witness to many of them...55387
