Brian first came to my attention on Magma's amazing Kohntarkosz LP and the single Mekanik Machine (both presumably recorded at the Manor in 1973). Interesting that after an illustrious career in pop, rock and jazz, he turned to purely improvised music later in his career. Hey Tourist, My Uncle Brian had one of these in the dashboard of his 1960's Jaguar. He was also the first person to demonstrate stereo sound to me in the mid 60's. Thanks for posting that!

Thanks Keith for sharing this TV play/film from 1988 - it's still there on BBC iPlayer for UK viewers. I enjoyed Bill's muscular percussion with Asian overtones during this piece, just a shame there's not more of Bill's music in there. Yes, it would be good to hear how it came about (and went) all those years ago. Director Michael Caton-Jones also directed Brond the year before (also with Bill's music) and later went on to direct some big Hollywood movies. Is there no filmography gathering together all of Bill's soundtrack work?

Such sad news. Ever since I saw YMO at Hammersmith Odeon in 1980, I was a big fan and collected most of the YMO and solo LPs. Yuki's all had great pop hits on them - he had a terrific voice! "Disposable Love" is a favourite of mine. Such a solid, distinctive drum beat and such a funky feel in everything he played on. RIP.
