1957

Just was listening to the Beach Boys' Surf’s Up album, an album that Bill Nelson has said was not only one of his favourites but was, according to Bill, also one of the reasons he started writing songs.

There's a song on Surf’s Up called “Disney Girls (1957)” by Bruce Johnston. On a previous version of the forum, I asked Bill why his track “Northern Dreamer (1957)” had 1957 in the title. Bill replied that he didn't remember. It's in my opinion possible that this might've been at least in part a nod to this album.

I listened to "Surf's Up" religiously. It has some truly inspriational Brian Wilson songs, sang with the lovely harmonies of his band. "Feel Flows" is a wonderful listening experience and of course, the title song "Surfs Up" is up there with most of the numbers from "Pet Sounds". They don't make them like Brian Wilson anymore.
