- Have you gotten sick?In World Outside The Window·13 March 2020Monday afternoon, I came down with “it”. Whatever “it” is. Uncontrollable coughing, joint pain, fever. Really not fun. The coughing was the worst. Like someone hit you in the chest with a baseball bat. Very restless at night. Chills. By yesterday, started feeling better. Today is good. But of course, my wife started the same symptoms Wednesday evening. Another friend (who I’ve not been anywhere around for over 8 weeks) had the exact symptoms last week. He went into his doctor & got tested for flu. He was negative. But no opportunity to get the coronavirus test. You have to be able to prove you were in contact with someone who has already tested positive for coronavirus. Sort of a Catch-22. All of us have had the flu shot. Just saying… .16180
- The Broken LawIn World Outside The Window·30 May 2020You all know the story.. I know what I'd do with this c**t….all four of the police scum complicit in this evil murder. ...In case you don't know: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/george-floyd-death-us-police-officer-who-knelt-on-unarmed-back-man-charged-with-murder/ar-BB14LXIr?ocid=spartanntp1654
- Bill's 345In William's World·19 August 2020Hi Bill, Your original 345 must be over 50 years old now. I know that in the early days of you owning it it for damaged and went back to Gibson for repairs, but I'm just wondering what it's had done in terms of mods, repairs etc. Is it pretty well all original and who do you trust to look after it? I guess with it being used for recording and touring it must have had a fairly hard life. Has it had to have repairs around the f-holes? Thanks, Roger16320

- A Bill Nelson MiscellanyIn William's World18 May 2020A 'LOST AND FOUND' PHOTO' OF GROUP 66. Going through some old photographs that my mother had kept I found this one of 'Group 66', a band I was in during the early 1960s. Whilst I have another variations on this shot, (taken at the rear doors of Wakefield's Regal Cinema on the day we were performing there,) I hadn't got this one. The exposure isn't great, nor the focus, but I've tried to tweak it a bit to make it slightly clearer. This was taken sometime around 1964 I think. (The name 'Group 66' didn't refer to a year but to the song 'Route 66' which we used to cover.) In the photo, from left to right are Adrian 'Cookie' Cook, (guitar,) Bernie Drugan, (drums,) Pete Hinnegan, (vocals,) Bill Nelson, (guitar,) and Steve Barton,)bass guitar.) The group played rhythm n' blues and featured songs by Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, early Rolling Stones, and so on.16

- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window23 May 2021Suggest you read these to understand a bit more about the European Broadcasting Union - https://www.ebu.ch/home , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Broadcasting_Union . The Eurovision Song Contest is only part of what they do. Though if the Tories dismantle the BBC, you'll get your wish, since EBU membership is for publicly-funded broadcasters only.16

- Catherine Calderwood, Scotland's chief medical officerIn World Outside The Window·5 April 2020What a complete and utter twat!....A total hypocrite...an absolute idiot. Talk about double standards....."Do as I say and not as I do"....Shame on you, Calderwood! https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/apr/05/scotland-chief-medical-officer-seen-flouting-lockdown-advice-catherine-calderwood &: https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/5460581/coronavirus-scotland-catherine-calderwood-chief-medic-covid-19/ Here she is, visiting her second-home, for the second time in the last ten days, full family in tow, happily flouting her own, and her governments strict advice and guidance, in which she has played a major part in delivering to the general public, as if she doesn't have a care in the world. She's been seen alongside Nicola Sturgeon a lot in the last couple of weeks on Scottish national TV, hammering home the message about staying at home and avoiding all unnecessary travel of any kind, including to second homes (for any high-flyers that might have a few extra homes knocking about), and is even the face/voice of a national public information film driving home the same message. Quite unbelievable...one of those things that makes your blood boil really, especially as the vast majority of ordinary decent people seem to be adhering to this crucial advice and exercising common sense and restraint i.e. following the rules, and staying at home! It would appear Sturgeon is standing by her, deflecting the flack, and letting her keep her position (i.e. looking after their own), albeit from probably much more of a backroom position from now on..(at least until all the fuss 'blows over'.) FFS, if you can't lead by example in times like these...her hypocritical and dangerous behaviour and flagrant flouting of the rules, twice!, should not be tolerated by anyone in these current times and I think she should go. Well, just as I'm about to post this, I can hear on 'News at 10' that Calderwood has in fact resigned her position. Wonder if she would have done so had she not been caught on camera??...yeah, right.1685

- Gahan Wilson, Vividly Macabre Cartoonist, Dies at 89In World Outside The Window·25 November 2019by Neil Genzlinger | New York Times Nov. 22, 2019 Gahan Wilson, whose outlandish, often ghoulish cartoons added a bizarrely humorous touch to Playboy, The New Yorker, National Lampoon and other publications in the era when magazines propelled the cultural conversation, died on Thursday in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was 89. His stepson Paul Winters said the cause was complications of dementia, which Mr. Wilson had been dealing with for years. Mr. Wilson was known for visual surprises and black humor: A steward tells a couple on a cruise ship, “I’ve passed your complaints along to the captain,” while in the background the captain, a violent-looking pirate, approaches. A man in a doctor’s office is reading an eye chart that says, in letters of diminishing size, “I am an insane eye doctor and I am going to kill you now”; behind him a crazed doctor prepares to attack him with a knife. “Some cartoonists can be good by having jokes, gags, and they’re funny gags,” David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker, says in “Gahan Wilson: Born Dead, Still Weird,” a 2013 documentary directed by Steven-Charles Jaffe. “The really great ones develop a private language, a set of characters, a set of expectations, a world. Gahan Wilson developed a world.” Another editor who published him frequently was Hugh Hefner of Playboy. He printed his first Gahan Wilson cartoon in the late 1950s. “Gahan Wilson was an immediate hit with our readers and a perfect contrast to our usual, more sexual cartoon fare,” Mr. Hefner wrote in the introduction to “Gahan Wilson: 50 Years of Playboy Cartoons” (2011). “By the early 1960s,” he continued, “I could say with real satisfaction that no other magazine in the world — The New Yorker included — had a cartoon stable the equal of Playboy’s. And no cartoonist was more popular, or more enduring, than Gahan Wilson.” more: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/22/arts/gahan-wilson-dead.html .16421

- Requests/Ideas?In The World And His Wife·2 April 2021I never thought of asking the forum members for any possible requests or ideas of what to illustrate, so I shall ask! What do you think I should draw? Not sure if I will add the resulting images or whatever it may be to this post or the 'Artworks.' one. We'll see. Any concepts would be great too..!! If any of you also draw, I'd like to do an art 'trade' too if possible! Call it a fair exchange!2354
