Not been listening too much recently - sooo much music, sooo little time, (but anyway, check out Squid's Bright Green Field & Dry Cleaning's New Long Leg), but tonight was deffo a Bill night which went Altar Pieces - Stand By Light Coming - The Love That Whirls - The Unrealist - Luxury Lodge - My Private Cosmos VI ... still can't seem to get an original copy of Neptune's Galaxy (one of my favourites). What's everyone else out there excited about?

I've been driving a lot recently and have picked out a batch of "best of" albums to listen to (yes, I still have a CD in the car). ELO, Roxy, Squeeze, Prince, Larry Carlton etc. etc. I also took a few of Bill's CDs that I haven't listen to for a while and when I put Illuminated at Dusk on, it just confirmed to me why I love Bill's work. The playing and recording are pure quality. As much as I enjoy listening to the other work, this, in my opinion, was way above anything else.

I wasn't expecting this at all on the guitar change to his golden 'Scotty Moore' Peerlees Gigmaster SC guitar, on what initially appeared to be no more than a little interlude on the strings we were treated to a rendition of Elvis Presleys 'Mystery Train'. I nearly fell off the edge of my seat ;-) what an amazing night we all enjoyed. Anyone care to provide the Setlist? US company Moog Music Inc. recently laid off many of its employees after it was acquired by music manufacturing giant InMusic in June. Moog Music's acquisition by InMusic came after the company struggled to make money for years and could not continue the way it was going. A common fear was that after the acquistion InMusic would cut costs by firing the Asheville, NC employees and moving manufacturing overseas, among other cost cutting moves. Unfortunately, the fears of SynthHeads around the world have come true, as many Moog synths will now be manufactured in Taiwan. Many "musicians" are now adamant that they will avoid the brand now and even support other companies such as Behringer, who manufacture clones of Moog synths (In my opinion, this is because Moog has lost the attractive element of being made in the US). It is quite possible that this could be the very end of Moog Music Inc, not only as we know it, but in general, if InMusic cannot ressurrect it.

Did you read that Public Image Ltd were considered for representing Ireland in this years Eurovision Song Contest? I really did laugh out loud. I had to check out their song. A social media giant that is undergoing scrutiny by its government, has a new product they want to introduce. Instead of having to spend millions on advertising they decide to use the government investigative body and the news media coverage to help introduce their new product. They have an “insider” of the company, report to the investigative body that the company is really “bad”, one ie. hurting children and families, and soon thereafter they present their new and improved version of their social media product – a new media-verse that people can enter. This is based on the campaign conducted by 1st century Jews to later be named Christians: A possible candidate for “messiah hood” is killed – nobody wants a dead, untriumphful messiah, so they modify the triumphal messiah prophecy with a revision that says it’s not earthly triumph that is ultimately important, but life over death, and make the promise that their untriumphal/triumphal messiah has a kingdom in the hereafter, that is so much better than the here and now, and to enter that kingdom, all you have to do is to believe in the untriumphal/triumphal messiah and pay life-long user dues to the messiah’s church to obtain said kingdom.
