- Sputum Cups at the Ready...In William's World·21 March 2019I have in my collection somewhere a concert recorded from the BBC of, (if I remember correctly), Red Noise. As I say I cannot be certain as it might be a Be Bop Deluxe concert. So I need some help please! Bill on introducing; (I think) Out of Touch; (hence me thinking it is Red Noise) comes up with the words, 'Sputum Cups at the Ready'. I want to find this recording which is probably on a cassette in my store room so I can get it converted for play from my server, but could do with a few more clues before I go hunting; i.e. is it Red Noise and if so were the words said before Out of Touch? Does anyone else remember this? I know there is a BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show session (17 February 1979) on the latest version of Sound on Sound that includes Out of Touch, but I haven't got this CD to hand to play and check if it is the same track.18461

- The Regal Cinema, WakefieldIn World Outside The Window·3 November 2019I've always been interested in British cinema and the history of, and indeed the (usually) wonderful art deco architectural design of these, once, wonderful places. A terrible shame such lovely buildings, bursting with life and soul in their heyday, have been subjected to such indiscriminate decimation in recent times..This may be interesting to fans who share an interest in Bill's earlier days, and a little glimpse of 'how things used to be'...just a couple or so pictures and a link to a very short video, maybe only 40 or 50 seconds in length, but nice to see...first time I've seen it (I think), which prompted this post. "The Regal Cinema was designed by Associated British Cinemas(ABC) in-house architect William R. Glen, and opened on 9th December 1935. It has a town centre location on Kirkgate at the corner of Sun Lane facing into, and visible from, the town centre. Not as large as some later ABC houses the Regal Cinema accommodated 1,594 but had a full stage 26 feet deep behind the 43 feet wide proscenium. The interior was rather plainer than many of Glen’s cinemas with concealed lighting under the balcony and at the rear of the ceiling and pendant fittings casting light upwards towards the front of the cinema. It was renamed ABC in 1962 and became a triple operation from 11th November 1976 with screen 1 seating 532 in the balcony using the original screen and projection suite and screen 2 (236 seats) and 3 (170 seats) in the rear stalls area. It was taken over by Cannon Cinemas chain in April 1986, and was renamed Cannon. It closed in 1997 following the Cineplex multi-screen cinema opening in December 1996 and has been empty and for sale since. A covenant restricting its use to film exhibition has been the reason the site has not been redeveloped or alternative uses found for the building." The above quote is a contribution made by Ian Grundy to the Cinematreasures website. I don't even know if the Regal is still standing anymore...probably been demolished for a car park, or 'plaza'🙄, or something. Lovel building in it's heyday...buildings like this just seemed to pull you in! Sad sight. Here's the link to the video...Please bear in mind it's very short https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGCHnJeL2e4 AND, as a brief aside, a little related history fact about ODEON cinemas. Odeon cinemas were built by Oscar Deutsch, a British businessman and entrepreneur, who opened his first cinema in 1928 and built an empire of nearly 300 Odeon's, before his untimely death in 1941....and!, ODEON stands for: 'Oscar Deutsch Entertains Our Nation'.. Remember the lady that used to come round with the little tubs of ice cream and wooden spoon, Kia Ora (I've still got my early 1970's badge), chocolate, cigarettes etc?..seems like a million years ago.18609

Here's a new upload from the legendary Louie Shelton, a fantastic guitar player who's history and pedigree needs no introduction...He's playing Michael Jackson's 'Rock With You' and if this doesn't ease a nice smile back on your weary mush!?...……..great playing, and a little soul restoration.1898
- Early 1970s Blackpool in Summer, UK in HD from 35mmIn William's World5 May 2020Brings back so many memories of family Summer holidays in the UK in the late 60s/early 70s - Blackpool, Rhyl, Weston Super Mare, Margate, Butlins at Filey etc. Always the long drive down from Scotland then 2 weeks at a particular resort. I also remember the many "working mens clubs" that my parents always took us to. Do they still have those?18

- RIP Moog MusicIn World Outside The Window·26 September 2023US company Moog Music Inc. recently laid off many of its employees after it was acquired by music manufacturing giant InMusic in June. Moog Music's acquisition by InMusic came after the company struggled to make money for years and could not continue the way it was going. A common fear was that after the acquistion InMusic would cut costs by firing the Asheville, NC employees and moving manufacturing overseas, among other cost cutting moves. Unfortunately, the fears of SynthHeads around the world have come true, as many Moog synths will now be manufactured in Taiwan. Many "musicians" are now adamant that they will avoid the brand now and even support other companies such as Behringer, who manufacture clones of Moog synths (In my opinion, this is because Moog has lost the attractive element of being made in the US). It is quite possible that this could be the very end of Moog Music Inc, not only as we know it, but in general, if InMusic cannot ressurrect it.25109
