Hi everyone. Does anyone know the source of the sample "Every time fireworks shone through drifting clouds" on Through Drifting Clouds from The Unrealist album? The liner notes don't say. It sounds like Joanna Lumley to me! Beautiful album. best wishes to all Toby

I recall Bill mentioning that Hank was an inspiration. It was great catching The Shadows on Sunday Night At The London Palladium (1965 vintage!) last night on Talking Pictures TV. They did an instrumental number before Cliff came on and Hank was TASTY! I can't see what model of guitar he's playing but it's a beauty! (and look at that backdrop!) Cheers!

Currently listening to JCC reading his autobiography "I Wanna Be Yours" -- all 15 hours of it! It's wonderful, by turns hilarious and moving, and always interesting. It was a happy surprise to hear (in Chapter 47!) about his experiences being the opening act for Be Bop Deluxe on tour in 1978. John speaks highly of Bill. (If you're interested in hearing John read his amazing book in his unique style, you can get a free 1-month Audible tryout, as I am doing!) best wishes to all Toby

Hi everyone, hope you are having a good Xmas, despite the circumstances. I've been listening to "Wakefield via time machine" on Bill's YouTube channel, a video for Bill's 'New Northern Dream' launch party in October 2016. If you haven't heard this, you should. At about 14:02 is a track which sounds like Bill paying a steel or lap steel guitar. It's superb! Does anyone know what album track this is? And is it a steel guitar, or slide playing on a regular guitar, I wonder? Whatever it is, I love it! best wishes to all! Toby

As we know, Bill is the undisputed master of the eBow. One thing that has always puzzled me. Seeing Bill play eBow live, he seems to switch to it with no change of volume, no pot adjustment, no pedal. You can see this (I believe!) in Beyond These Clouds The Sweetest Dream on the Rocketeers DVD (if you don't have this, BUY IT NOW). Yet in my own humble experience with an eBow, there is a MASSIVE increase in gain when you use it and the entire house starts to shake and crumble until you quickly hit the volume pedal! I should add that my eBow is the modern plastic-case version not the stainless steel original which I believe Bill has. best wishes to all! Toby

Hello chums. Catching up on this superb album after many years away. Had FORGOTTEN, my bad!, that Bill plays on 3 of the 13 tracks, and his playing, credited as "Bill Nelson – blue guitar" on Blackcrow Hits Shoe Shine City, is really beautiful IMHO. Find that track here. Stay safe and well! best wishes to all, Toby

Hello chums. On my "listen to the lot" journey I've come across this, Fiat Lux's "This Illness" from 1982. Never seen or heard this before. and so glad I've found it. Bill playing beautiful (as ever) EBow lines. And the band including Bill's late brother Ian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTBdQWxOD-4 Hope you like it too. cheers Toby

Having been a big fan in the 70s (saw BBD at Liverpool Empire 1976) then losing touch, then coming back 3 years ago to discover Bill's astonishing output over the years, and being blown away by him twice at the Clothworkers, today I started on a bonkers project I've been thinking about for ages. To listen to the lot, chronologically, working from a discography. This can't include all versions and obscurities etc, I know! But at least all the available albums. Call me crazy! (no don't :-) np: https://www.billnelson.com/sounding-the-ritual-echo cheers! Toby

That's it really! Thought Bill was on cracking form, seemed to be enjoying himself. What a treat. I do hope the video of the unstreamed broken streaming will be available for those who weren't there. cheers Toby
