Yorkshire born, I first heard Bill Nelson play live with Be Bop Deluxe at Sheffield's City Hall in 1976, supported by the Doctors of Madness. I continued to follow BBD and Red Noise in concert at the City Hall and Leicester's De Montfort Hall (where I also heard the Dukes, Charlie Tumahai's band after BBD), and took in The Invisibility Exhibition at The Dominion Theatre on London's Tottenham Court Road, where Bill was supported by Richard Jobson, the Frank Chickens and the Yorkshire Actors group. I'm still enjoying the music.
