I went back when my mum passed - 2017. I actually stayed in my home town of Hucknall for most of the time, but people I know say stay well clear. It's funny cause I used to work there (Alfreton Rd) and loved it in the 70's. The Turf Tavern, News House, Old Corner Pin.

Yes, I have a couple of mp3 players. It might be nice to set up a music server, but I get lazy, and I don't have much of a clue how. I have an old Raspberry Pi I could utilize. Before retiring to Spokane I was in Bothell.

I was looking thru my old posts just now. I noticed the other day I had 2 Dazzlebox's. I had totally forgot about this post, but I don't think I ever received the address. It's funny how it affects you. I'm 71 too (I think I recall Quinault saying at one time he lived in eastern Washington. I'm in Spokane) I don't have any memorabilia to speak of. Lots of cd's though. I mentioned on my last visit my Parkinsonism - now in a wheelchair although I have use of my legs my balance is so poor and my legs are weak - even getting and changing cd's is a chore and I just don't play so much as I used to. I might have to look for a multi cd player. There used to be a Sony one that held a good amount - failing that the Onkyo 6 player may do :) I regret I've been a little remiss on keeping up to date on Bill's cd's too, although I have most that come up. I still expect to be around for a while and may start to give my Bill stuff away eventually but most of my friends are of a similar age....

I remember the name Sassafras. Quite well but in the early 70's there was so much choice to listen to. I remember being home on leave (Nottingham) in '71 and was thrilled to get tickets for Atomic Rooster, The Groundhogs, and The Strawbs (with Rick Wakeman). Loved those bands ever since. The Groundhogs must have been promoting Split, with Atomic promoting Death Walks Behind You and The Strawbs promoting From The Witchwood. It used to be a little frustrating being in training and seeing bands you hope to see and no real chance to see them. I recall after Chicken Shack released Imagination Lady in (I think '71 also) - they were shown playing in Devizes. I had recently been posted to Bulford. Me and a mate attempted to get there by bus and soon realised we'd never make it. So we went to the NAAFI and got pissed.

I know all about slurring and shuffling. Spent a bit of time going through Bill's CD's I don't yet have. The 2 still in my download folder are Chameleon and Whistle While The World Turns. Must burn them. I had a listen to Whimsy and Whimsy 2. I do like the songs where Bill has some "narration" on it. The more Ambient sounding ones. As soon as I get up to date with burning will have another look.

Hello Tourist Yes, originally from Notts (well - Hucknall) and I tried to remember who else was from Nottm so thanks for making yourself known. Now living and retired in Spokane, Wa -- was just north of Seattle. I have purchased a couple of Bill's releases recently, but they are still in my downloads folder. Must look again - I think there was a previous box set released that I like the look of - now available singly. Oh - and lastly (may set up a separate post for this) - as my coordination is off - at the grand old age of 70 I've bought my first drum kit - an electric one so my neighbors don't get upset with me. May ask if anyone here is experienced in same to seek advice. I'm trying all to slow down the progress - it's a form of Parkinsonism. Will look more at the forum.

My copy (Deluxe) arrived in Spokane today and playing the new stereo mix cd now. Fantastic. Been waiting ages for this.

While they're at it - could they do something about Maid Marian Way? Described once as the ugliest street in Britain - an apt description.

Mine is on it's way to Spokane, USA and I'm a lucky winner of the signed drawing. Thanks so much Bill. Last time I won anything music related was around '91 when I won tickets to see Green On Red in London (thanks to GLR), and the time before that was winning a Gentle Giant album around '76 from Trevor Dann's Radio Nottingham rock programme. I plan to frame the postcard and drawing. Mixed Up Kid and Dazzlebox packaged with it. I've been a bit infrequent popping in just lately. Have a great holiday season all.

I had not heard of Steve Gibbons before Rollin' On came out. My usual routine on Saturdays was a few pints with mates in Mortimer's Cavern in Nottingham - followed by a trip to nearby Selectadisc - before said shop was moved to make room for the new (or new in '76) Theatre Royal. I had listened to and discounted Blue Oyster Cult when I noticed the Gibbons and asked to listen. The guy behind the counter knew me (just as a regular) and stated "You'll buy this". And I did. Fantastic.

My favorite is Rollin' On - then Bunker.
