Curious to know how much space you need for your vast body of work. Music projects are not small and you are certainly a very prolific artist! 😄

Very happy about it. I love the pictures, poster and the book, and the new stereo mix is great. I do have a question about the lyrics part of the book however. In the instrument list it says that they used an "STS 3 SYNTHESISER DRUMS". Tried looking for it but can't find anything other than the Simmons SDS 3. Is this what they meant? An answer is much appreciated. Otherwise; the booklet is a great treasure trove of information!
Just got the Art/Empire/Industry Box set for Christmas! content media

Dave Smith was an American engineer and the founder of synthesizer company Sequential Circuits, known for releasing the Prophet-5 synthesizer. He is also considered the "Father of MIDI", having an important role in the creation of MIDI. Smith's interest in music technology started in the early 70s when he got an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science degree. He already had an interest in music so he bought a Minimoog, but wanted to do more with it, and later built a sequencer that would work with Moogs and ARP synthesizers. This would become Sequential Circuits' first product in 1974. His day job involved working with microprocessors, so Smith had the idea of combining microprocessor technology and synthesizers to make a programmable, polyphonic synthesizer. He assumed Moog or ARP would inevitably release a synth like this, but when no such synth appeared, Smith decided to design one. This would be the Prophet-5, released in 1978. It was such a hit that the waiting list for one went on for years. Later Dave Smith would go on to take part in the creation of MIDI (with Roland, Yamaha, Korg and Kawai) and a key role in the development of the Korg Wavestation. In the mid 90s, he created the first professional software synth, Reality. He went back to hardware synthesizers with Dave Smith Instruments' Evolver, and continued to release numerous synthesizers throughout the 2000s and 2010s. In 2013, Dave Smith and Ikutaro Kakehashi of Roland fame were awarded Technical Grammy awards for their work in creating MIDI. Yamaha gave the Sequential brand back to Dave Smith as a goodwill gesture in 2015, and so Dave Smith Instruments changed its name to Sequqnaitl. 2020 saw the re-release of the Prophet-5, now at its fourth revision. Sequential announced on social media on June 1st that Dave Smith had passed away.

This is a song that was made by a friend of mine. I'm posting it here because the final track was a remix by me. I highly recommend to go check it out. Unfortunately, don't be surprised if it gets removed, because Simon has been attacked by people who have been claiming the rights to his music (even though they don't have the rights). And Spotify has taken down the album that this track comes from, Changed. I hope the same doesn't happen to this single 😕 Here it is on Spotify. https://open.spotify.com/album/2KeH1s8WUW5oH0GBQmNd40?si=kDww4nBwRvKXCd-e2BQSkg

Sorry if this has been asked before. It's probably a big question, so apologies for that, but I'm wondering what synths Bill has used. If anyone else can also answer this, feel free to. Would like to know since I love the sounds on Bill's 80s albums.

I never thought of asking the forum members for any possible requests or ideas of what to illustrate, so I shall ask! What do you think I should draw? Not sure if I will add the resulting images or whatever it may be to this post or the 'Artworks.' one. We'll see. Any concepts would be great too..!! If any of you also draw, I'd like to do an art 'trade' too if possible! Call it a fair exchange!

Part of the things I do is art, mostly more simple illustrations on paper and (more recently) digital. Occasionally I use other mediums such as acrylic paints. I thought I would post some of them here, since it doesn't seem to currently be a thing on this forum. If anyone else does artwork, I would be happy to see them! It's great to see what other people can and have done. Especially now with so many posts about the passing of people, it's good to hear about news, but what is with that? Bit of a mood killer. Here's some Bill related ones to get this started. The robot on the cover of Sound on Sound. I decided to go for a different angle than the cover shows. This was done on my iPad This is the picture used for my current profile picture. Bill of course. A quicker one done on my computer, using a fairly small Wacom tablet, that was actually the first (proper!) device I used for digital work. For this one I decided to make it more like Bill's style, with science fiction elements, a style more reminiscent of Jean Cocteau, and of course, a guitar (You can tell I'm not good at drawing guitars though.) This was the first thing I did on my iPad when I got it in December last year. So it's been a bit, but I've finally found the courage to post it here. When I make more, or when I decide to, I'll post more as a reply to this post. It may not be all related to Bill of course, since that's not the only topic/person I draw, that would be weird and creepy in fact.. 😂😂😶🤔😇

Not sure if anyone knows Discord here but it's a site/app where users can message each other or use a server to text and post in. The site's often used for people to join 'servers' for certain topics. Bit different from the forum, as all the communication is real time. Wondered if a Bill Nelson one exists, or one related to Bill. If not, is anyone interested in one?

I wasn't sure where to put this, but this forum section is probably the closest fit. This is Furniture Music mixed with Gangnam Style. The idea originally came from rave.dj which is a site that can mix music together using an AI. Not totally satisfied with what it did, I decided to do it myself. Note that this isn't perfect, and it was done for fun and not anything serious

Hey Bill, I wonder what your process for making album covers is? How do you get the ideas for your covers and what do you normally use to make them?

Hello, we are an up and coming band called king electric blue (name is a work in progress). The members currently include users Frippp , mucki :3 and myself of course. We are a band separated by the sea, as we live in different countries, but we won't let that stop us! Currently Frippp is doing drums (as a joke), mucki :3 is the guitarist, and I'm keys/vocals, that might change in the future though. If anyone is interested in being involved, you can ask us! (also, we're looking at art rock/prog rock styles)

I noticed that Bill has a Macintosh (for a long time it seems). I'm wondering what model it is currently and its specs? (Also if he has any other computers he uses in his studio). Would like to hear back from Bill, but maybe someone else knows too. And I hope you're doing fine, Bill. I've read your blog posts and it seems like you're going through a tough time, I hope you can power through it.
