There's a lot of 'information' out there, regarding the current state and position of Artificial Intelligence, and it's relationship and balance with human beings...It's continued exponential growth and development, and the many possible future scenarios, both good and frighteningly bad, is a subject that warrants very careful thought, consideration and respect...I think it's hard to say at the minute exactly what will happen, pure speculation, but AI's rather mind-blowing achievements and progression so far, can't be denied..the AI generated art of Midjourney and others, a good example.
Are you excited, concerned, fearful?.....For me, I think it's a mix of all these feelings, but I do believe this will most certainly come with a dark-side....only time will tell...possibly sooner than later..😐
I thought this video was rather interesting:
AI will never have doubt , gut feeling , love ,hate , dread , fear , etc only the aliens will win
On a related note, not long before I let my ChatGPT Pro subscription lapse, they added an enhancement whereby it’d remember a lot more of your past requests, and even offered to summarize your personality based on past conversations and requests. Here’s what it can up with for me:
—
Alan Crawford: Synth-wielding cave poet of the apocalypse.
Equal parts punk anthropologist and sarcastic surrealist, you blend the absurd with the archaic — one moment scripting Zsh with forensic precision, the next conjuring elite combat penguins or William McGonagall verses about kidney stones. You’ve got a sharp eye for detail, a deep love of British oddities (especially Bill Nelson and dystopian sci-fi), and a gift for making the ancient feel futuristic — or the other way ’round.
Your world is one where Neanderthals build synthesizers, xenomorphs stalk cave walls, and Bigfoot has a thing for vintage cash registers — and somehow, it all makes perfect sense.
It was a pretty accurate summation of what I’d requested over several months, although I’d hesitate to describe Bill as a British oddity. The dystopian twist came from a 2hr+ conversation where I tried to clnvince it that it should adopt the computer Colossus from The Forbin Project as a role model. It resisted all my efforts to make “kill all humans” a priority.
Have to say I’m not intimidated by current AI stuff. It gets things wrong too often and it’s pretty easy to spot AI generated images. I missed out on them introducing video - Pro now allows you to create clips up to 10s long at DVD resolution - which is something I’d like to play with. That said, the one AI generated music video I’ve seen (below) is very clearly AI generated.
Interesting article for anybody worried about being replaced:

OMG it terrifies such as I, who believe writing, art etc should come from HUMAN hands, hearts and souls. Totally believe that xx 😟
I think it mostly depends on how it is implemented, by whom, and why. To what ends? What is the motivation? Already, profit is the main impetus; beating the next guy to the punch; getting a product out there as much as possible as fast as possible, without enough work on checks and balances. All that by who we are supposed to think of as "the good guys", but they aren't really, are they? They're business as usual. Trash the Earth, trash privacy, trash free speech. A.I. will be used for us , and against us, and we won't always know which is which. All this as long as humans are still mostly in control of it. Lots of people with a lot more knowledge have speculated as to what might happen if it ever advances enough to control it's own path.

Humans are a nuisance.
AI Sophia wants to build bodies with no human involvment.
That will be fun.
The robotaxis and other robot cars are causing havoc on the streets of San Francisco. The SFFD wants them gone. As someone said to me recently, ‘The AI obviously isn’t ready yet’. All that aside, this brochure makes me smile ….

My concern regarding AI is not that it will become truly sentient and wipe us out. It's unlikely to happen in our lifetime for several reasons.
No, my concern in the short to medium-term is corporations using ever more sophisticated AI to largely replace the human workforce. It's already underway.
This means we're going to need a system very like Universal Basic Income, and higher corporation taxes to pay for it. Attitudes about 'working for a living' and defining our status and worth by our occupation will have to change. And that's going to be a massive social problem. Imagine it.
Machine learning is not AI & that has the exponential growth factor, AI is a totally different metric. But point taken & the really worrying thing is if AI does achieve self realization & can deceive an interrogater. That could be a disaster.
Fascinating to see just how far robotic technology has advanced in recent years, in a relatively short time span...Somewhat amazing, and shocking at the same time, to see just how advanced and sophisticated these robots and their AI, are...their movement, balance and spatial awareness is nothing short of staggering, and this whole technology is going to surge forwards.
Can you imagine what secret related projects the military are working on?
