Two good things about this new compilation:
https://stevenwilsonpresents.tmstor.es/product/104559
It's compiled by none other than the influential Steven Wilson
It has a Red Noise track right near the beginning.
It's actually a really interesting and different perspective on the decade in question. I'd be interested to hear Bill's thoughts on it. It's certainly good to be reminded of S Wilson's respect for Bill's contribution to what we call culture.
I don't care much for The Specials, but all else looks good!
😎 What an amazing collection of great music from truly great bands and artists. Many of those listed were among my favourites of the era.
Fortunately, I still have all the original albums, EPs and singles that I bought upon their initial release, so probably no need for me to buy this box set 😉
This collection looks fascinating, and I was really delighted to see Bill there. Anxious to hear these tracks, I made a Spotify playlist 😎 (-7 of the 57 tracks).

It's a great collection...I'll definitely buy this and pretty much a bargain at £35.
For me personally, I don't see it as a different perspective on the years in question. A lot of the stuff on these discs were the staple, everyday bands and songs I was listening to at that time, that me and my bandmates back then were listening to. It was our normal go to music, both in regard to buying records and seeing live bands. I would have most of the singles and album releases from 3/4 of bands featured.
The standout bands/material for me in this set, which I'm really pleased to see, are
Wire
Punilux
Gang Of Four
Joy Division
Swell Maps
Art Nouveau
23 Skidoo
The Bunnymen
Section 25
Crispy Ambulance ('From the Cradle to the Grave' would have been a better choice)
SLAB!
What a fab line-up, I knew nothing about it, so thanks for posting TheMikeN and I will definitely be purchasing the 4 CD set...Finally, a compilation that is properly reflective of the more interesting and unique bands and original, quality music of that time.
John Foxx in there as well.
Release slated for February 2023.
