IAN DURY & the BLOCKHEADS
Been on a bit of an Ian Dury binge of late, wonderful stuff.
I was getting a little 'stale' musically, if that's the right word, and a re-run through their back catalogue has really freshened things up on the listening front for me. A truly original band and front man, excellent musicians, wonderful writing and arrangements, a pure joy to listen to. I always loved Ian's voice and lyrics and let's not forget the very talented, and much underrated, Chaz Jankel, bit of a genius, really.
So, if you're feeling a little wilted on the music front, why not try some Ian Dury & the Blockheads?, to put some lead back in your music pencil...works for me.

Just to be clear, they're great to listen to at any time. The clever writing and arrangements and great musicianship, have ensured their songs have stood the test of time and don't sound dated...Any other fans here?

Been listening to Kilburn and the High Roads (the precursor to Ian Dury and the Blockheads) because Iād been listening to the audiobooks āThat Closeā by Suggs and āGrowing Out Of It (Machinations Before Madness)ā. Both mention Dury, the Blockheads, and the High Roads often. You can hear their influence on Madness.
Didnāt know about Kilburn, London, I donāt think, nor Kilburn High Road railway station.
