RIP Moog Music

US company Moog Music Inc. recently laid off many of its employees after it was acquired by music manufacturing giant InMusic in June. Moog Music's acquisition by InMusic came after the company struggled to make money for years and could not continue the way it was going. A common fear was that after the acquistion InMusic would cut costs by firing the Asheville, NC employees and moving manufacturing overseas, among other cost cutting moves. Unfortunately, the fears of SynthHeads around the world have come true, as many Moog synths will now be manufactured in Taiwan.

Many "musicians" are now adamant that they will avoid the brand now and even support other companies such as Behringer, who manufacture clones of Moog synths (In my opinion, this is because Moog has lost the attractive element of being made in the US). It is quite possible that this could be the very end of Moog Music Inc, not only as we know it, but in general, if InMusic cannot ressurrect it.
