I wrote this song not knowing why. Only later did it reveal itself to me. I had broken up with my girlfriend and sometimes that can be a massive blow to the ego. With her, I felt like the mightiest captain, but I had actually charted my own failure and downfall. I was the biggest fool at sea. Sometimes it is not the person you love, but who you think you are when you are around them. This is a jig or shanty of sorts, and I was surprised that I had that in me. So, to all songwriters, you'd be surprised what comes out that you are not aware of at times.
