- John Cooper Clarke aged 71 todayIn World Outside The Window25 February 2020In the conversation on Jonesy's Jukebox with JCC, toward the end Steve Jones says that we just heard Maid in Heaven and that the only problem with the track is that it's too short. Wish more Bill Nelson-related conversation emerged from that, but, alas, it did not. Entertaining convo all the same ... John Cooper Clarke in studio on Jonesy's Jukebox14

- Single Track of the DayIn World Outside The Window17 November 2023😎👍...I got this album as a Christmas present from Mum and Dad, in 1971, or 1972, can't quite remember exactly, after much pestering from me. I was either 11, or 12....Always loved it, still do...and I still have all the early Alice Cooper LPs. (Alice Coopper band)... Alice (Vince) has, imo, one of the greatest voices in rock music..So distinctive and powerful, and one second in, you know just who it is....I'm talking all the early releases, albums and singles, up to and including Billion Dollar Babies..great stuff!...The original Alice Cooper band, was definitely the best, that whole late 60s to mid 70s period rocked! = tons of wonderful bands and record releases...we'll never see anything like it again. Here's another fave of mine, from Killer...Great album artwork too..😎 However, the album should really be listened to as a whole.2

- Bandcamp Friday, tomorrow??!!In William's World·30 September 2021If my calendar is correct, tomorrow is the first Friday of a new month….which I believe means Bandcamp foregoes their cut of artist purchases. So I wonder what gem will go up for download on the BN site, or is that a thing of the past now?2195

- Darth Vader actor Dave Prowse dies aged 85In World Outside The Window·29 November 2020Former weightlifter and actor best known for playing Darth Vader in the Star Wars movies has died, his agent has said Sun 29 Nov 2020 David “Dave” Prowse, the actor best known for playing Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, has died at the age of 85, his agent has said. Agent Thomas Bowington said: “It’s with great regret and heart-wrenching sadness for us and million of fans around the world, to announce that our client Dave Prowse MBE has passed away at the age of 85.” Jason Joiner, an events producer who worked with Prowse, announced the death on a Facebook page dedicated to the actor, adding: “Dave was dedicated to meeting the fans for decades and lots of fans’ first ever guest they met was Dave in the early days of Comic Cons and collators’ events. Dave was larger than life and he will be so very much missed. Our love and thoughts go out to his family.” Prowse was a former bodybuilder who had a series of roles as monsters and villains before being invited by George Lucas to audition for the roles of Vader and Chewbacca. He chose Vader and when asked why, replied: “Everyone remembers the villain.” Born in Bristol in 1935, Prowse was, according to IMDB, raised by his mother and never knew his father. He developed a passion for bodybuilding and weight training in his early teens and competed in Mr Universe competitions, where he became friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno. He also shredded phone books under the stage-name Jack the Ripper. He won the British heavyweight weightlifting championship three times and was selected to represent England at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in Perth, Australia. Prowse’s first film was 1967’s “Casino Royale”, where he played Frankenstein’s Monster. Although the casting was based on Prowse’s stature, he developed a strong interest in acting and decided to pursue it further. His CV included roles in “A Clockwork Orange” and many Hammer Horror films, and he was the personal trainer who prepared Christopher Reeve for the role of Superman in 1978. Prowse was in the Vader suit for much of the Sith Lord’s screen time and reputedly even got to speak his lines on set, though his west country tones were dubbed over with those of American actor James Earl Jones in post-production, and many of the fight scenes featured British Olympic fencer Bob Anderson. more .2136

- A SILVER WEDDING ANNIVERSARY...In William's World17 May 2021Our silver wedding anniversary, (and the related diary entry,) was in April 2020, not 2021!! We didn't get to celebrate it due to last year's lockdown...and didn't even get a later celebration this April due to the second lockdown, so I guess we'll have to hang on until next April now, by which time we'll be two years too late. 😉21
- Postcards to Mark from DevoIn World Outside The Window·5 December 2020Hi folks. I recently found out that Mark Mothersbaugh almost died from Covid 19. Glad he's recovered. Mark and another artist are inviting anyone to send them postcards as a way to help save the U.S. Postal Service. Here's a link: https://www.postartfordemocracy.com/ I was doing some winter cleaning and found some old coffee stained Nelsonian Navigators with 2 of Bill's old promo postcards. I added some "get well" sayings to it and mailed them to Mutato Muzika. Now I'm thinking about the soundtrack Bill provided for that postal stamp designer tv program...Picture Post. I saw most of it on youtube. Even though I'm not much of a stamp art admirer, the music works well with the stories.2139
