- It's not a bad list, but...In William's World·8 February 2024Just been looking at the list of those who have taken part in recording the nine-minute charity single version of Mark Knopfler's 'Going Home' (for the Teenage Cancer Trust). It is an impressive list. https://markknopflersguitarheroes.tmstor.es/?utm_campaign=W%2FC%2005%2F02%2F2024-%20Mark%20Knopfler&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Mailjet(https://markknopflersguitarheroes.tmstor.es/?utm_campaign=W%2FC%2005%2F02%2F2024-%20Mark%20Knopfler&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Mailjet) But in there are a few 'How did they get included?' names. You sort of assume that somebody didn't want to offend a family friend by not including them. And, of course, Bill sails past so many of those included and really should have had the chance to be listed in the same assembly with those that are genuinely impressive and influential musicians. I'd like to think that Bill would have stepped up and joined in (despite poor health) if he had been offered the chance to do so.22199
- I am Angry!!!In William's World·15 February 2024Oh, Where, Oh Where, is the beloved 1991 Bill Nelson solo album, Luminous. ACK! I noticed it is off of Apple Music! The anti-Bill Nelson police won't get away with this!!! It had my such fdavorite songs such as, Is This Alchemy???, and some other Korg M1-T3esque and Kurzweil K2000 like patches all over it! Please Bill! If you could only know! I would be the happiest peacock in all of China.22377

- 25th March 1974In William's World5 October 2021A good find, John M. The stream-of-consciousness-type text/blurb on the Doncaster flier is directly taken from the band promo leaflet which appears in a photo on page 8 of the 'A Bill Nelson Miscellany' thread on this forum. I wonder whether its weird but intriguing style persuaded some to come along and have a listen. It certainly makes BBD sound a bit more ambitious than the rest of the Doncaster line-up!22

- Remembering Bob MoogIn World Outside The Window·23 May 2024Remembering Bob Moog today on his birthday May 23rd; he would have been 90 years old today. I still have fond memories of visiting the local music store DJ's to see demos of the Moog Prodigy and Memorymoog, both of which are still used in my studio. Meeting Bob in person at a John Eaton concert at the University of Chicago in 1992 was a major thrill for me - I slipped a cassette of my latest album Pink Sounds From The Purple Plain into his hand. Bob was always interested in hearing how composers used his products in their music. A very important inventor and engineer! Tom2234

- WILLIAM'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUITARS. (A personal series of six string sentiments...)In William's World31 August 2020A candid photo' of the Beatle's guitars piled up backstage at one of their gigs. What is particularly interesting to me is that the guitar top right, next to George's 12 string Rickenbackere, is a Gibson 345 Stereo guitar, exactly the same as the one I've owned since the early/mid 1960s. I hadn't realised that George had a 345 too. That's something we both had in common, along with a love of Chet Atkins' playing...22
- WILLIAM'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUITARS. (A personal series of six string sentiments...)In William's World7 July 2020Bill, the guy with the Gibson archtop above, is American jazz guitarist, band leader and pioneer of electrified instruments, Alvino Rey...His is an interesting story and I'll put a Wiki link below, that's definitely worth a read. You may be more familiar with his grandson, Win Butler, frontman of the rather famous Canadian band, Arcade Fire. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvino_Rey Alvino Rey:22
- WILLIAM'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUITARS. (A personal series of six string sentiments...)In William's World2 September 2020A white flying V Gibson. I don't quite know why, but I've never been convinced by this design, although in the late '50s I had a record by Lonnie Mack who played a Flying V, and I've always loved Albert King's use of that guitar. Maybe it's because it was taken up by the heavy metal groups that put me off it.22
- Quit Dreaming - your Xmas present sortedIn William's World24 August 2024This is everything I hoped for: Multi-track remixes that include World and His Wife and Dancing Music, all the singles material brought into some kind of sonic uniformity (more robust than Two-Fold, I expect - but from what sources?), plus the radio sessions. Unclear why "Dream Car Romantics (in Death's Garage Antics)" is excluded, but that's okay. Ordered and optimistic.22
- White cover Sound on Sound. In William's World10 October 2024Yes, I believed it to be a myth. Going to frame it and hang it on the Nelson wall in the “Man Cave”👍 I’ m sure I read somewhere there was a white vinyl version too. Mmm, maybe…2
