A definite "comfort food" element to some of Bill's softer, more wistful recordings - present in this one in spades for me, although the avant/experimental aspects are always there too.

Another bit of autobiographical trivia: When I was a pupil at Ings Road Secondary School in the late '50s, early '60s, my school chum Ian Parkin and myself would walk, at lunchtime, from the school up Quebec Street and onto Westgate where there was a little fish n' chip shop with a small cafe room attached. Here we would sit and eat fish n' chips for our lunch. (Far nicer than the slop that got served up as school meals.) We would accompany the meal with a glass of 'Tizer', a fizzy soft drink, which we were partial to back then. The fish n' chip shop and cafe has long ago vanished from Westgate but a few years back I found a 'ghost sign' on the wall of the building that stood next to the old chip shop. It says 'High Class Fish and Chips.' I'm not sure that we would have called it 'high class' back then but it was certainly better than school dinners! Since I took the photo' the sign has faded to near invisibility, as has much from those 1950s school days.

Those Anglo American Optical sunglasses were so cool. I remember looking everywhere for them and you informed me they were from a shop on Oxford street in London called The warehouse. Never looked that good on me!

A mystery photograph: I've no idea where this is, or who the person is that I am talking to. It looks as if it might have been in the grounds of Villa St George in Juan Les Pins, during Be Bop Deluxe's recording sessions there, but I'm not sure. Maybe the guy I'm speaking with was a technician who drove the Rolling Stones Mobile recording truck down to the South Of France, but, again, all recollection of the moment pictured has vanished from my mind. Any clues?

PERSONAL SNAPSHOTS: PART 3. Continuing this series of personal photo's from my private archives, here are some more. Some of these feature my own photo's of my beautiful wife Emiko who I love dearly... Emi at a friend's apartment we stayed in during the '80s. She has just drawn a Cocteau style image on a blackboard that was on a wall in the apartment. One of my favourite photo's of Emi. Taken in the snow one winter at Sandal Castle in Wakefield. Emi in the early 1990's, taken in the home of Yumi Morioka where Emi and I stayed for a while... Emi in Bali in 1993, where we had a holiday. Another photo' of Emi I'm Bali, 1993. Bill and Emi in Bali, 1993. I've just corrected some of the dates on these photo's...I'd inadvertently put 1983 instead of 1993 on some of them...a senior moment I'm afraid. All good now...I think!

A bit of a change to the subject here, but this is something I just discovered going through photos to scan.......my son Zak and myself many years ago, with my painting from many years before - around 76/77 which was recently given to a member of Dreamsville .....a little indulgent to put on this thread, but it's a small slice of history so I'll chance my arm on it!
