I may be in the minority but I don't like the new mix. It's quieter, flatter, smoother...none of which I want. In particular, on the epic fade out on Sound Track (one of my favorite tunes), the left channel guitar riff is pretty much missing. It ruins the song. I checked the "2019 Stereo Mix" on iTunes - same problem. I'm sticking with my original pressing.

There used to be quite a popular saying around this neck of the woods, a good few years back, .."I'm talking to the organ grinder, not the monkey"...and, various iterations of...no explanation necessary. Don't hear it very often, nowadays...always made me smile, it took no prisoners.😁

The latest email from Burning Shed says that this one will only be a pressing of just 500 copies. Now, I've already ordered my copy but - in case anyone has been becoming very relaxed about ordering now that Burning Shed are pressing more than was the case - this one is a return to the 'blink-and-you-missed it' releases that we were used to for several years. I assume that Bandcamp will be the only back-up. Order now, if you are able.

I remember buying this when it first was released.....great instrumental album.....off the top of my head, the standout tracks for me are : Kitchenette Ocean Afternoon Scenic Elevator Ocean Afternoon, if you are not familiar with this album, is the most beautiful instrumental, conjuring up wonderful imagery and colourful abstracts....sublime! Well worth having!

It's been three years since this post, but the topic of the Ondophone still sounds intriguing! I hope Bill and everyone who saw it back then found it interesting. Since it's been some time, I wonder if any of you have had the chance to explore other unique instruments, like the Irish bouzouki. It's a captivating stringed instrument with a distinct charm that could have added a fresh vibe to your musical explorations. If you're curious, you can still check out some lovely bouzoukis online and see how it resonates with your musical souls. Keep the music spirit alive and continue enjoying your musical adventures!

A very cool reminiscence. I was at the same outdoor gig on June 9th 1990 but wasn't feeling remotely brave enough to go and say 'Hi' to Bill. On my very rough 'through air' recording of (about half of) Bill's set, I have the venue down as Thornes Park - perhaps there's a local reason for there being two names for the park? Meanwhile, I do love the stage of Bill's work represented by the Demonstrations of Affection boxed set, but I only listen sparingly because, to me, the emotional baggage of its creation feels like an obstacle. Weird, that, I suppose: I can cope with John Lee Hooker singing blues, blues and more blues, but even funky eighties electropop/rock can be a bit much if I'm actually hoping its creator isn't caught up in such a state for too long. But it's time to get Chimes & Rings out again, I think!

The down side of Bill’s ‘Cottage Industry’ releases is that they don’t ever get into the record shops, and subsequently don’t end up in the ‘reduced to clear’ bins of days gone past. I wonder how many people have bought one of those bargain records purely because they like the sound of the title, or the front cover, only to become fans of the music? With very limited pressings of the CDs, and being distributed solely by Burning Shed, the chances of someone stumbling on a cheap album and buying it on a whim are pretty slim.
