- The marvelous Marvelous realms …..In William's World14 February 2023Steve, Very well put. Marvellous Realms has it's own atmosphere, like so many of Bill's albums, and it definitely gets better with each spin. I downloaded it as well, as I'm still waiting for my hard copies. I also downloaded Stupid/Serious, a very different kettle of fish, and just as enjoyable. When I downloaded Stupid/Serious, track 9 disappeared. I eventually found it under a different song title and artist. For me, each download is a new adventure. 🙄 I've had both albums in rotation for a couple of weeks now, and loving every minute of it. 😎 I hope to get the actual physical copies this week. Not sure if it's the postal strike in the UK or the increasing unreliability of the US mail, but this is the longest I've every had to wait. Burning Shed shipped the CD's out promptly as always, so it's nothing to do with them. Patiently waiting in Florida 🌞32
- Charlie's Fretless BassIn William's World9 April 2023"Couldn't make it fit in France (Juan-le-Pins)? I’m unsure of the meaning of that." ...they couldn't get the new neck to fit the body of the bass guitar...I would assume. Personally, I don't think a fretless bass would have suited the overall Drastic Plastic vibe/sound..It had somewhat of a hard, angular edge. A fretless may have sounded ok on 'Visions of Endless Hopes' and 'Islands of the Dead', but I think that then, that would have seemed rather disjointed and out of place, with the rest of the recordings..No, imo, much better the way it was/is....Just my opinion ofc.3

- Fake albums on eBayIn William's World27 April 2024The seller in question has sold several copies of both ‘Dreamland to Starboard’ and ‘Custom Deluxe’…as well as multiple copies of other artists rare albums. The artwork colouring is slightly out from the original, and the CD label artwork has a much wider border around the disc edge than a genuine one which goes almost right to the edge of the disc.3

- Single Bill Nelson Track of the DayIn William's World5 September 2023Been getting reaquainted with Clocks & Dials, the last couple of days, and wow!, what a fab ride it is. 38 sumptuous tracks on this double CD delight, and almost impossible to single one out. But I'll choose this one, this time. Mystery Vortex (Oberon Touchstone)... ...and here's a nice pic of Bill signing my copies of Clocks, and Golden Melodies, at the 2008 Nelsonica meet & greet. ...It's one of my favourite albums and highly recommended = a buy you will definitely not regret...😎32

- Bill Withers has left usIn World Outside The Window·3 April 2020William Harrison Withers Jr. (4 July, 1938 – 30 March, 2020) Phenomenal hit songs like Ain't No Sunshine and Lean On Me, but for me it's the groove of Use Me that constantly blows my mind. That hook is something else. Lovely Day was another one that blew me away as a kid. The way that bass was recorded was incredible.32131
- "Two-Fold Aspect of Everything" download: Remastered? In William's World20 January 2025So I was this day old when I realized that front facing release pages in the "Store" are simply flown in from their chronological spot in the discography. Which makes . . . perfect sense. I was also this day old when I figured out that, at the same moment that a new release appears in the "Store," that page gets added to the discography. This kind of blindness to the obvious I would like to attribute to the vastness of Bill's catalog, and to the long history many of us have had with it. (This is going to sound like a rationalization, which it is, kind of, but stay with me . . . ). All those old 80s and 90s albums, which we tracked down on vinyl and cassette and CD, constitute one part of our experience with his music, whereas so much of the material released in this century we bought directly from him his various websites. I see copies of "Vistamix" and "Modern Music" in the used LP bins all the time, but I've never seen "Clocks and Dials" out in the wild, as it were. So "Two-Fold" comes from one part of my private Nelson cosmos, and "Arcadian Salon" from another, in terms of how I might view those two releases as per the discography overall. Hope that makes sense!3
- YorkshireIn William's World12 February 2025Wow, what a great shot, I don't think I've seen this before. Looks like some kind of function/after show gathering, possibly? Any background info on this Jon? BTW, imho, I do think Woody gets decent recognition for his drumming talents, but outside Bowie fans appreciation, I never thought Trevor Bolder really got/gets the accolades he deserved as a top bass player. Just my thoughts. Great pic😎👍 ..Mick Ronson Memorial concert?3
- A BRIEF NEW ALBUM UPDATE...In William's World·24 April 2019Just ti keep you informed without having to write up a new journal entry, I've just now completed the mixes of two new instrumental tracks which will 'bookend' the 10 tracks that have been left over from the 'Stand By: Light Coming...' album. These two tracks are titled 'The Lamplighter's Lament' and 'Lost Light.' I've yet to sequence a running order for the 10 overspill tracks but these two instrumentals will start and finish the album which I've tentatively titled 'The Last Lamplighter. (Return To Vulcan Street.') The album will contain 12 tracks in total and my plan is to release it as a download only item alongside the 'Stand By: Light Coming...' album which will be a limited edition CD as well as a digital download release. So...some progress. Now I need to get the running order for 'The Last Lamplighter' decided...32261

- A BUSY RADIO SILENCE...In William's World·4 May 2019Haven't found enough time to write a new journal entry but have lots to tell. It will have to wait for a day or two as I'm desperately trying to get the two new albums ready for mastering. 'Stand By: Light Coming...' is, (as I've mentioned previously,) all sorted and ready for John Spence to sprinkle the final fairy dust on at Fairview Studio but the 'overflow' album from these sessions is proving more problematic. My initial draft running order of 'The Last Lamplighter' didn't sound right and a couple of the tracks were not even making the 'B' list for me, so I've recorded a handful of new songs to replace the ones I've consigned to the rubbish bin forevermore. I'll post the final running order for this album when I come to a final decision but I need to get my skates on. The mastering session has moved though, (which may actually be a good thing and allow me a little more time.) It was originally scheduled for the 7th of May but has now been moved to the 10th to accommodate John's other duties. Fortuitous perhaps... So, just one more track to mix an then rejig the sequence of the album to accommodate it and we're there I think. By the way, the new song is titled32552

- PhotosIn World Outside The Window23 July 2024More or less regarded as a weed/nuisance, but really quite pretty. Back garden earlier this evening. We like to leave a nice bit of natural vegetation for the critters, creatures and birds. Rather concerning is that insect numbers seem way down this year. In fact for the last couple of years or so. We've hardly seen any butterflies, moths, bees, crane flies etc, etc....and there is a small stream running at the bottom of the garden. I don't know if this is a local/regional issue, or more widespread. My guess is that it probably reflects a wider, general trend.....I might do a bit of research on this.32
