- Soundbite resourceIn William's World·11 February 2024Hello, all! I've just discovered Dreamsville and I'm very, very excited. This topic may be old hat, but I was wondering if anyone - perhaps Bill himself - has compiled/identified/annotated the soundbites that Mr. Nelson has liberally sprinkled throughout his work. It would definitely be quite the undertaking! Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks.32237

- Happy St. Patrick's DayIn World Outside The Window·17 March 2024Wishing everyone here in Dreamsville a Happy St. Patrick's Day. I really enjoyed the Dublin St. Patrick's Day parade that was carried on our local PBS station, lots of fun characters, bands, and floats! Dinner here will be Corned Beef, Kraut, and Swiss Cheese on rye bread, chips, and a cold Guinness. Music by The Celts, Enya, and others. Have a good day, mates!3232
- Days in Europa (tour)In William's World·14 April 2024In November and December Skids are doing a "Days in Europa" tour and I'd definitely go if Bill was back on board! I know this album divides opinion, but I always liked it. Has Bill said/written anything about his work with the band? In my opinion, the album worked out very well.32207

- My Private Cosmos - initial impressionIn William's World20 December 2021First the packaging – it’s lovely to see this being invested in to have an art object – it adds a lot to the total experience. So far, I have listened to first 3 CDs over 2 days. First impression is that it’s fine, but I maybe need to accept that my tastes no longer align with those of the artist or I’m behind the curve and need to listen harder. In short, I feel there are a lot of albums last 10 to 15 years that sound very similar and I’m finding that magic moment in the listening experience ever harder to find. But after 35 years of buying Bill’s albums I will not be quitting, and I hope for something that equates to a 'After the Satellite Sings', Noise Candy ‘Console’ or ‘Dreamland to Starboard’ personal listening moment comes again.32

- Bill on BandcampIn William's World·4 October 2024As the proud possessor of almost every Bill Nelson album on CD (well, the ones that were released on CD anyway), I don't use Bandcamp much for buying Nelson-works. Visiting just now though, I was amazed at the sheer scale of Bill's Bandcamp front page. If I've counted right, there are 105 original albums available there! May his work remain easily available (via a system that requires payment to the artist) for many decades (centuries) to come! Am I right that one of the albums missing is 'Catalogue of Obsessions' (from the Trial By Intimacy box set)? The other three albums from the set - as well as Sounding The Ritual Echo - are all present and correct. Completing the set must be a priority, I hope.32185
- The Multi-Layered Musical World Of William NelsonIn William's World·19 May 2024Another musical layer revealed... Just when you THINK have everything covered regarding the musical canon of Bill Up comes an artefact which on one hand excites the possibilities and the other hand how far into the project before it was shelved/abandoned? or realised but never released officially... Talking about post chimera june 1983 project installation ''Music For Vikings'' inspired by the Jorvik Experience in York, the piece i read and was publicised in Record Mirror Saturday June 18th 1983 Quote '' He (Bill) is about to commence a very ambitious project with the New Viking Museum In York (Yorvik), where he will compose a sound track based on background noise for what is to be Britain's first total experience museum. Am i the last to know or is this project very much common Knowledge?32169

- "Two-Fold Aspect of Everything" download: Remastered? In William's World20 January 2025So I was this day old when I realized that front facing release pages in the "Store" are simply flown in from their chronological spot in the discography. Which makes . . . perfect sense. I was also this day old when I figured out that, at the same moment that a new release appears in the "Store," that page gets added to the discography. This kind of blindness to the obvious I would like to attribute to the vastness of Bill's catalog, and to the long history many of us have had with it. (This is going to sound like a rationalization, which it is, kind of, but stay with me . . . ). All those old 80s and 90s albums, which we tracked down on vinyl and cassette and CD, constitute one part of our experience with his music, whereas so much of the material released in this century we bought directly from him his various websites. I see copies of "Vistamix" and "Modern Music" in the used LP bins all the time, but I've never seen "Clocks and Dials" out in the wild, as it were. So "Two-Fold" comes from one part of my private Nelson cosmos, and "Arcadian Salon" from another, in terms of how I might view those two releases as per the discography overall. Hope that makes sense!3
- YorkshireIn William's World12 February 2025Wow, what a great shot, I don't think I've seen this before. Looks like some kind of function/after show gathering, possibly? Any background info on this Jon? BTW, imho, I do think Woody gets decent recognition for his drumming talents, but outside Bowie fans appreciation, I never thought Trevor Bolder really got/gets the accolades he deserved as a top bass player. Just my thoughts. Great pic😎👍 ..Mick Ronson Memorial concert?3

- Fake albums on eBayIn William's World27 April 2024The seller in question has sold several copies of both ‘Dreamland to Starboard’ and ‘Custom Deluxe’…as well as multiple copies of other artists rare albums. The artwork colouring is slightly out from the original, and the CD label artwork has a much wider border around the disc edge than a genuine one which goes almost right to the edge of the disc.3

- ROCK N' ROLL REVERIE...In William's World·20 May 2019As a child in the 1950s and a teenager in the early 1960s, Rock n' Roll was a seminal influence. Watching TV shows like 'Six-Five Special' and 'Oh Boy!' introduced me to the emerging British Rock n' Roll scene which had developed from the earlier Skiffle craze. American Rock n' Roll had influenced and inspired the Brits to take up their electric guitars and wail, but the results could be mixed and not always convincing. There were some good examples though and I leaned towards those, particularly as my parents had bought a second hand radiogram complete with a collection of records, many of which were by American rock n' Roll stars of that time. I was lucky enough to hear the real deal. One of those early standout records for me was 'Jailhouse Rock' by Elvis Presley, and Scotty Moore's terrific guitar solo in it simply defined what an electric guitar could sound like back then. Or so it seemed to me at that time. Of course, guitar instrumental bands soon grabbed my attention, Duane Eddy and the Rebels, The Ventures, The Shadows, The Spotnicks, The Fireballs, The String-Alongs, Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers, The John Barry Seven, Johnny and the Hurricanes, and many, many others. The electric guitar was king and really fired my imagination. Amazingly, as you all probably know, it still works its magic to this day. But, whilst my contemporary music embraces many other areas, from rock to avant-garde and ambient, I still have a great fondness for the music that stoked my early rock n' roll dreams. So, here's a link to a video by contemporary guitarist/singer Darryl Higham, a musician I really admire. He must not have been even born when rock n' roll was in its heyday, but his love of the genre, and his mastery of it is clearly apparent. Whatever rock n' roll needs...he's got it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJTXKhIG6dE32275
- A BUSY RADIO SILENCE...In William's World·4 May 2019Haven't found enough time to write a new journal entry but have lots to tell. It will have to wait for a day or two as I'm desperately trying to get the two new albums ready for mastering. 'Stand By: Light Coming...' is, (as I've mentioned previously,) all sorted and ready for John Spence to sprinkle the final fairy dust on at Fairview Studio but the 'overflow' album from these sessions is proving more problematic. My initial draft running order of 'The Last Lamplighter' didn't sound right and a couple of the tracks were not even making the 'B' list for me, so I've recorded a handful of new songs to replace the ones I've consigned to the rubbish bin forevermore. I'll post the final running order for this album when I come to a final decision but I need to get my skates on. The mastering session has moved though, (which may actually be a good thing and allow me a little more time.) It was originally scheduled for the 7th of May but has now been moved to the 10th to accommodate John's other duties. Fortuitous perhaps... So, just one more track to mix an then rejig the sequence of the album to accommodate it and we're there I think. By the way, the new song is titled32552
