- WILLIAM'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUITARS. (A personal series of six string sentiments...)In William's World14 July 2021Some of you may remember this from earlier in the thread. I finally succumbed as I have a birthday with a zero in it coming up. It's a Hü Tonelabs Psychlone GT. I had to get it imported from the US and apparently only Rachel Goswell from Slowdive has one in the UK... apart from me now.😀 It played straight out of the box and has a distinctive tone.32

- PaintingsIn William's World·5 March 2021Hi Bill, I hope you are well. Looking forward to preorder Dazzlebox. In the meantime I have a short question: is it possible to buy some signed artwork? At the last Nelsonica I hesitated to buy one (don't know why. What a fool I am), but now I regret my decision.... Just asking. A nice piece of Bill Art would sit nicely with my 140+ collection of Bill Nelson Music. Best wishes, Thomas32184

- END OF AN ERA...In William's World19 September 2022Also (IMHO), I think Bill meant this thread as a moment of quiet reflection, for a time that has passed for us all, emphatically underscored by the passing of the Queen, a definitive marker in time, and the transition we all now make into an ever-changing world and uncertain future.. Just a quick comment on the negative remarks, rather like a book of remembrance, one would sign the book, perhaps punctuated with a thoughtful sentiment, or not write any words at all..certainly not write anything insulting or vitriolic. In other words showing some respect and dignity. This thread was never about whether anyone is pro or anti monarchist and the arguments thereof, so I would have expected people to exercise a little restraint and shown some good manners and just not posted anything at all if they felt so bitter and negative. Of course, it's a free world, but really??..If that's the way you feel, wouldn't it have been better to, say for example, start a thread in The World Outside The Window, something along the lines of 'Do you believe in the Monarchy?', where people could voice an opinion either way? Bill Nelson is a kind, warm-hearted, and generous individual, who is also very tolerant, and both he and Jon and the team trust us to get on with it and act accordingly, showing mutual respect and consideration. Of course, it goes off the rails now and then, but never anything major really, and that's just life...But for those ('members' I've never heard of before) who have had a direct pop at Bill in this thread, on his own forum, well, that says much more about them, than it does about Bill...It really does go beyond the pale.32

- The marvelous Marvelous realms …..In William's World14 February 2023Steve, Very well put. Marvellous Realms has it's own atmosphere, like so many of Bill's albums, and it definitely gets better with each spin. I downloaded it as well, as I'm still waiting for my hard copies. I also downloaded Stupid/Serious, a very different kettle of fish, and just as enjoyable. When I downloaded Stupid/Serious, track 9 disappeared. I eventually found it under a different song title and artist. For me, each download is a new adventure. 🙄 I've had both albums in rotation for a couple of weeks now, and loving every minute of it. 😎 I hope to get the actual physical copies this week. Not sure if it's the postal strike in the UK or the increasing unreliability of the US mail, but this is the longest I've every had to wait. Burning Shed shipped the CD's out promptly as always, so it's nothing to do with them. Patiently waiting in Florida 🌞32
- Charlie's Fretless BassIn William's World9 April 2023"Couldn't make it fit in France (Juan-le-Pins)? I’m unsure of the meaning of that." ...they couldn't get the new neck to fit the body of the bass guitar...I would assume. Personally, I don't think a fretless bass would have suited the overall Drastic Plastic vibe/sound..It had somewhat of a hard, angular edge. A fretless may have sounded ok on 'Visions of Endless Hopes' and 'Islands of the Dead', but I think that then, that would have seemed rather disjointed and out of place, with the rest of the recordings..No, imo, much better the way it was/is....Just my opinion ofc.3

- Nelsonica 2021In William's World25 March 2021Well, as they say, "never say never..." But I think we need to be cautious and see how this Covid situation pans out. 2021 may not prove to be the year when all returns to some sort of 'normality.' There is still a tremendous infection rate in Europe and America, and whilst levels have dropped here in the UK, it may be that the lockdown has impacted more dramatically than the vaccinations. Until we get a little further down the line, it's perhaps foolhardy to declare this thing will soon be over. I predict that we might see another flare up after restrictions are lifted, but I hope I'm wrong surmising this. Staging a Nelsonica event does take a tremendous effort from everyone involved. It's only a one day thing, but, because there's no regular repetiton, (such as on a tour,) each show is a one off, unique presentation, a stand-alone event with its own individual dynamic. No two shows are exactly alike. Preparing for these performances takes months of work and planning, I have to create and prepare videos and backing tracks, a format or concept for the event, make drawings for the merchandise stall, get equipment and guitars ready and packed for shipping to the venue, deal with rehearsals, oversee support structure being in place, (guitar tech, sound engineer, team members,) autograph a few hundred albums, etc, etc. What comes across as a seamless, relaxed performance on the day rests on months of creative thinking and preparation. The reason why fans have found so much to enjoy whilst attending these Nelsonica events is because a heck of a lot hard work goes on behind the scenes. Hopefully, the end result has proved worth the effort. This year I will be, (gulp,) 73 years old. My health is unfortunately blighted with diabetes, sight loss, partial deafness and other issues, all of which conspire to rob me of energy and confidence in a live performance situation. I'd originally said that the concert I gave on my 70th birthday would be my final live appearance, but I would like to think there might be another show of some kind one day. Maybe something a little less demanding in terms of overall complexity and preparation. Who knows? But the Covid situation is far from over and we need to be careful. There are no quick fixes for this. Covid is an extremely contagious and deadly disease which will haunt is for several years to come. Let's take things a day at a time. If and when there is a serious improvement, and if I feel up to it, there may well be another chance to stage a Nelsonica event of some kind. Until then, I'm still fully engaged, inspired and passionate about my recording work, which is ongoing and as committed as ever.32
