- FIREWALK.In William's World·28 August 2022This is an appeal for fans to support my eldest daughter, Julia Nelson, in raising money for a charity project she is trying to raise donations for. She is doing this by taking part in a firewalk, (literally walking on a fire,) on September the 9th. Julia is fundraising for The Maypole Project, and they’d really appreciate your support. You can donate to their JustGiving page by clicking here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/julia-nelson4?utm_source=Sharethis&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=julia-nelson4&utm_campaign=pfp-email&utm_term=e5093af7d1664d68b68711650ffb5975. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to The Maypole Project, so it's the most efficient way to give - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. I hope you will be able to donate something to Julia and the Maypole Project charity, using the above link. She's very brave to take this on, a firewalk is a real test of nerve! 😬41609
- Cherry Red 16 disc deluxe set of Live! In The Air AgeIn William's World20 May 2021I've been offered the chance to hear all of the performances but politely declined. I have too much music yet to make and so little time left to do so. Listening to 15 CDs of 40 something year old performances would be kind of frustrating for me. When John Leckie and I put the original Air Age album together, we trawled through hours of all the live recordings to select the best performances for the album. I hear that there are certain improvised sections of the songs that are slightly different from show to show but it's such a long time ago, I've no idea whether they're good or bad. There's sure to be a certain 'warts and all' quality to many of them, (which may actually interest die-hard fans,) but I don't imagine I'll be so eager to hear them! Nevertheless, I can see the appeal for fans who attended one or another of the shows and who want to nostalgically relive the experience. It may, however, not be quite the same experience all these years later when some of us are slightly more mature!😉41

- Non-LP tracks circa Red Noise > ChimeraIn William's World15 July 2024Alec, I'm curious about what the comparable mysteries are about the "Noise Candy" moment. Add in "Atom Shop," "Weird Critters," "Magnificent Dream People," and the unique tracks from "Whistling While the World Turns" & "What Now, What Next?" - and I think you've got a pretty seamless compendium of a very coherent (extended) Bill Nelson home studio episode, circa 1995-2000. Essentially, between After the Satellite Sings"/"Practically Wired" and "Whimsy." (Quite possibly contemporary with the first two, or even preceding them by a bit, but wholly subsequent to what came before - e.g. Secret Studio era.) TBH, it's probably the stretch I'd choose for my desert island, if I could only choose one. It's all of a piece to me, allowing for a separation of the pop vocals from the instrumentals/found vocal tracks. I long ago created something like "Console Vol. 2," which I may prefer to "Console" proper. But that's mixtaping, rather than perceiving dividing lines within the overall "Noise Candy" period of home recordings.4
- Bill Nelson Bootleg SeriesIn William's World12 July 2024Here's a track from the Leicester "Invisibility Exhibition" tape (2/26/83) that isn't represented on any album. Informally known as "Amateur Astronomer."41

- White cover Sound on Sound. In William's World13 October 2024I love the white version of this sleeve and actually might even prefer prefer it to the black version released everywhere else...mmm, not sure, but I like it just as much = really cool. I believe this was only ever pressed and released in Australia and it's now on my 'wanted' list..😎 TBH, I'd never seen this version before looking at this post, so it'll be great searching for this little gem, all these years later!...Thanks for posting.41

- Steve HarleyIn World Outside The Window17 March 2024Steve Harley, the frontman of British rock band Cockney Rebel, has died at the age of 73. His best known song was Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) which went to number one in the charts in 1975. The musician had still been touring until recently, but cancelled dates to have treatment for cancer. His daughter Greta said Harley had "passed away peacefully at home", adding: "We know he will be desperately missed by people all over the world." London-born Harley lived on the Essex-Suffolk border with his wife Dorothy, with whom he had two children. His family were by his side when he died.41
- Geordie Walker R.I.P.In World Outside The Window28 November 2023Killing Joke was one of those bands I never had the opportunity to see live, much to my regret. I jumped on right from the get-go with their debut album. What a knock-out. So very sorry to hear of Geordie Walker’s passing. .41

- COVID-19 JABSIn World Outside The Window30 March 2021When I found out that people of my ethnicity, as well as health condition, were most likely to get COVID-19 and die, I could not wait for the vaccine. So when it became available to me upon my Indian Reservation, I took it immediately. Moderna, the two shot variety. First shot, felt like a shot, some muscle pain, a headache, then fine. But shot #2 felt like I broke my arm. It felt like I was tackled (American football) from behind and driven into the ground. My upper chest and arm where I got the shot were impacted for about 3 days. Now I am over the numbing fright of an unpleasant death. Seven members of my tribe have died. We could not even have our traditional big funerals. That has been the hardest part. We have vaccinated everyone, as far as I can tell. The Elders, the Infirmed, the First Responders, the front line people, the School Teachers, and all the staff, regardless of age or race. Here in North America that has been par for the course within Indian Country. I think it has to do with our much smaller numbers and our self government. Maybe it is an aftereffect, but I feel optimistic and have ventured out, beyond the grocery store. I feel like my baseball team will do good this year. I even bought a Bill Nelson album that has not been released yet! And hope to get it under 8 weeks! [Do CD's from the UK go though the Suez Canal?] By that time he will be asking us what to name his next one?41
- Look at the state we're in...In World Outside The Window18 November 2020The problem seems to be that even if Trump goes, there's a whole social media architecture in place which reinforces as "normal" and "truth" the kind of ludicrous conspiracy nonsense that Trump promoted. Its influence, for many, seems to have overtaken that of the mass media networks. That particular malign cat is out of the bag. Relatively 'liberal', progressive consensus reality - the kind of thing we've taken for granted when it comes to deciding important matters of fact, etc (eg through science and/or reasonable consensus-making) has been systematically attacked by various parties. How the media technology evolves will probably impact things more than we can comprehend at present. We'll have to put our Marshall McLuhan hats on.41

- Tender Is The Night (1983)In William's World31 August 2022I've listened to 'Tender Is The Night' many times...mainly in my high school years. It was the soundtrack to some crush I had on a girl. I much preferred 'Glow World' instead...with Mick Karn's bassline it just goes down less tender.41
