- Remembering those who have passed. In William's World·11 April 2021As today is the first anniversary of the passing of Bill's mum I would like to remember her for the wonderful woman I met at Nelsonica02 and pass on our prayers and best wishes to Bill, Emiko and the extended Nelson family. With love, hugs and kisses, Eugene and Noeleen xx ❤️41353
- “Altar Pieces” anniversaryIn William's World22 July 2020I am sort of a nerd. Currently this framing project lies on my guest bedroom bed on a Glacier National Park Pendleton Blanket. I redid the music room to make way for another bookshelf. Which I filled with cd's.41
- WILLIAM'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUITARS. (A personal series of six string sentiments...)In William's World6 June 2020AND NOW FOR A FEW MORE UNUSUAL GUITARS, SOME OLD, SOME NEW, BUT ALL WITH DEFINTE APPEAL TO MYSELF. A HAGSTROM GUITAR, JUST LIKE THIS, WAS IN THE WINDOW OF THE WAKEFIELD MUSIC CENTRE IN THE EARLY '60s. THIS HOFNER SOLID BODY ALSO FEATURED IN THE MUSIC CENTRE'S WINDOW IN THE EARLY '60s. A GORGEOUS MINARIK SEMI-ACOUSTIC. ANOTHER VIEW OF THE MINARIK SEMI. I REALLY LIKE THIS ARCHTOP! A PAGELLI ARCHTOP. THIS IS A FRAMUS 'TELEVISION' MODEL. ANOTHER FRAMUS GUITAR. A VINTAGE GERMAN ARCHTOP. A 1960s BURNS SOLID. WEIRD AND WONDERFUL ! AND ANOTHER WEIRD BUT WONDERFUL GUITAR FROM THE SAME COMPANY. A 'STINGRAY' GUITAR. THIS ONE IS BY THE 'ROADRUNNER' COMPANY. ANOTHER 'ROADRUNNER' MODEL. A STUNNING 'PESCATORE' ARCHTOP. ALL BLUE AND CREAM, EVEN THE FRETBOARD! REMINDS ME OF WALL'S ICE CREAM PACKAGING FROM THE '50s. A NICE OFFSET GUITAR WITH ONE PICKUP AND ONE VOLUME CONTROL. I REALLY LIKE THIS GUITAR, STYLED ON A CELLO SHAPE I THINK. ALL I CAN SAY IS "WOW!" A BEAUTIFUL GIBSON CUSTOM ARCHTOP. ANOTHER CUSTOM GIBSON. AN ARCHTOP MADE BY THE 'BROWN' COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA. NICE COLOUR!41
- Christmas ContinuesIn The World And His Wife·19 December 2023Getting a Bill CD in the mail was one thing, as I ordered it when it first came out and getting something across an ocean and a continent takes time. But DAR / Mr. Dogboy himself sent me: Best of all ARPS Best Acoustic Guitar, old acoustic guitar with ebow, plus a couple acoustic ebow from 2023 Greatest Ebow hits of all time from 2015 until 2020. This has been my request FOREVER! I must be a very good boy. Or his wife liked the canned fish I sent down to the dessert. The topper? A Christmas card with a dog. Priceless.4179
- Latest issue of Mojo magazineIn William's World·10 August 2024This month's free CD is entitled "Forever Young - the best of 1974". Track nine is Darkness (L'Immoraliste) from Axe Victim. Good to see Bill's work getting publicity, even if it's 50 years old!41309

- Birthday GreetingsIn William's World18 December 2021Many thanks for all the birthday wishes, you're very kind. I've not done anything to celebrate at all, just a visit to the supermarket for provisions, wearing a mask, of course, and desperately trying to social distance in crowds that don't seem to observe such precautions. Other than that, it's just a day like any other, except that tomorrow I'll be embarking on my 74th year. Now that's hard to grasp!😶41
- My Private Cosmos - initial impressionIn William's World20 December 2021I really don't like the way things have been going recently here at DV...there seems to be an element that's very negative, to say the least....no real respect, or courtesy, from some quarters, for Bill Nelson himself...which is a real pity, considering just how much Bill and crew give, and just how much we get, including a very relaxed approach to how we are able to post here...Let's not forget that, and please show respect..don't take the piss, or troll..Why bother if you don't like it, go join somewhere else, if that's the case....Why keep on tussling with something you don't 'connect' with?..I can't see the point. Try and be respectful to the musician, it the least we can do, right?41
- What is "Sounding The Ritual Echo (Atmospheres For Dreaming)" a soundtrack to?In William's World4 May 2022'Sounding The Ritual Echo' was' not a soundtrack for anything, other than my dreams. It was an experiment in lo-fi atmospherics, recorded with the basic recording system I had at that time. For all its simplicity, it has a quiet charm that evokes other realms.41

- George Vjestica Quote from an interview wih the acclaimed Groove Armada / Nick Cave guitaristIn William's World·15 June 2024I enjoyed making the Black Light and White Light albums [2010]; if you listen carefully, you can hear how my James Honeyman-Scott and Bill Nelson influences snuck onto those records!41132
- “Crimsworth” anniversary. In William's World28 February 2020I did see the Crimsworth installation while it was in Nottingham City Library/Gallery (coincidentally about 100 yards from the shop where I I used to buy almost all my Bill Nelson releases!). The exhibition had a lovely mood to it - somehow peaceful and pastoral despite having a strange metallic foil element to the materials used - the light effects created were good but it really needed the music to make it work. The whole thing might have been better in a darker setting than that building allowed. My other link to Crimsworth is that until a couple of years earlier I had been living in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. At one end of the very rural parts of the valley (which are really lovely and oddly 'secret') is Crimsworth Dean - which I knew as a small hamlet/village but had peculiar mini-ripples and woodland areas in the landscape around it. If you like this kind of landscape though, I recommend a visit to Hardcastle Crag, just a few miles closer to civilisation (trendy and flooded Hebden Bridge!) but at least as lovely.41

- CHARLIE WATTS RIP.In William's World27 August 2021In 1964, when I was a guitarist in 'Group 66', I had The Rolling Stones' first album and also their singles 'Little Red Rooster', 'Not Fade Away', and 'It's All Over Now.' Group 66 did covers of many of the early Stones tracks, along with some Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley numbers. The group's singer, Pete Hineghan, shook a mean pair of maracas, just like Jagger too.41
- 'MIXED UP KID'...THE STORY SO FAR...In William's World26 October 2021Whoops! Have been copying the correct mixes of the tracks onto a memory stick to take over to Fairview for mastering when John might be available to deal with them, but suddenly realised that the numbering on the track list I posted the other day was wrong. I'd listed two songs as being number 8! I thought the total track count came to 18 as a result;t but now, having spotted the mistake, I realise the track list really comprises 19 songs, NOT 18, so it's even better value!41

- D'ADDARIO STRINGS FOUNDER PASSES...In William's World·19 June 2021Many of you who are guitarists will know of D'Addario strings. The company's strings are factory fitted to many of the guitars we buy today and are known all over the world. Co-founder of the company, Jane D'Addario, sadly passed away on June 14th, 2021, aged 72 years old. She was born in 1948, the same year as myself. Another sad loss for the fraternity of guitarists. Jane was a generous philanthropist who supported many worthy causes. My deepest sympathy to her family and loved ones.41180
- I remade 'Maid in Heaven' for my DadIn William's World15 December 2020I like it.....I like it because it's not a slavish copy..your interpretation is fresh and original and therefor you have 'made it your own', added your identity, whilst it still obviously being 'Maid In Heaven'...Great job with the vocals, especially the little twist at the end. Made In Heaven should have definitely been a No1 hit single for Be Bop Deluxe, a song which many agree, me included, is the perfect pop song (as close as you can get, anyway). BTW, this was released 45 years ago, this year...I can remember buying it as a 15 year old and being sooooooo excited...and Bill's music still gives me that same buzz all these years later. Miss buying 7inch singles though...a bit of magic that was, along with Sounds and NME.41
