- Please, please BBC can you please drop 'later with jools"In World Outside The Window·18 June 2021Please can the BBC drop later with jools or more appropriately ' jools and his mates'. The format is tired and so is he. Wouldn't it be good to go back to a more 'Whistle test' format. Live performances/ interviews / news/ videos. Regarding live performances you could have: 1 established artist 1 artist on 2nd album 1 new artist You could have a 'memory lane' feature. Plus an established artist recommending 5 new acts Who would be the host? You would need someone dynamic, engaging and enthusiastic ( all the qualities lacking in jools - no offence to anyone who likes him) Men candidates : Zane Lowe? Greg James? Chris Martin? Brandon flowers? Female candidates : Jo whiley? Sara bareilles? Emily blunt? ( oh, I think I've drifted off into attractive women rather than actual candidates) What do you think? Has jools played his swansong!0064

- Eight/Chance/Meetings by Corduroy Institute (2021)In The World And His Wife·25 December 2021As the year draws to a close, we would like to leave a little note about an album we released in June. It's called Eight/Chance/Meetings and it revolves around a particular conceptual approach. We used a random number generator to select a pair of albums from our musical archives, and each pairing served as the inspiration for our new song. As always, all of our music was entirely improvised and all our lyrics came from cut-ups taken from distinct literary texts. Below are the songs in addition to the albums that inspired them. 1. Everything's Wrong (And I've Always Loved It) The Flaming Lips, The Day They Shot a Hole in the Jesus Egg | The Golden Palominos, Drunk with Passion 2. With an English Raincoat The Wedding Present, Search for Paradise | Eric Clapton, Slowhand 3. Of Splendour and Misery The Slits, Cut | Rick Springfield, Rick Springfield’s Greatest Hits 4. You Bring the Sunshine, We Bring the Blackout Magazine, No Thyself | The Golden Palominos, Pure 5. A Suburban Purity Chrome, Anthology 1979-1983 | The Temptations, My Girl: The Very Best Of 6. An Interpretation of Our Own Story Size, Size | Fairport Convention, Liege & Lief 7. These Variations of Grey Foetus, Hole | David Bowie, Hunky Dory 8. In This Confessional Simple Minds, Empires & Dance | Marillion, Misplaced Childhood ———————————————————————————————————————0024
- Corduroy Institute: experimental popIn The World And His Wife·30 April 2020We are a Southern California duo interested in exploring the possibilities of sound & song. We have been striving to bridge the gap between improvisation and pop. Using multitrack recording, together we improvise two or three layers of sound using drum machines, guitars, synthesizers, and the Bass VI. Then, we sing on top of the improvisation. However, we don't prepare traditional lyrics. All of our verses are made using cut-ups taken from newspapers, books, advertisements, and magazines. The challenge is to make all these disparate elements coalesce into digestible pop songs. Is Bill an influence? Certainly. We're not afraid to call ourselves collectors of his works over the years. At times we use eBows, but above all we love the immediacy of his working methods. We also admire the ability to remain prolific. All of our material from 2018-2019 (four EPs, two mini-albums, two albums) can be found on all platforms. Bandcamp also hosts a 13 song compilation featuring what we deemed to be our most accessible work. Hopefully a listener or two will enjoy it. Feedback would be much appreciated. Cheers. https://corduroyinstitute.bandcamp.com/0015
- Another venue bites the dustIn World Outside The Window·14 May 2019The Borderline, one of London's best known small venues, will close in August due to ever-rising rent and business costs. This is deeply depressing and makes me think that we will soon get to the stage where central London will only have big business offices and luxury apartments. All the small interesting clubs, bars and shops will have succumbed to the relentless price hike and night life in the capital will suffer for it.0038
- Gary Numan's AutobiographyIn World Outside The Window·19 October 2020I see that Gary Numan has an autobiography out in a few days [in the UK at least]. I've never been especially fond of his stuff -- neither strongly liked or disliked it -- but I'll be interested to read whether he talks about his work with Bill, and perhaps the influence that led to it. Anyway, I thought I'd post about it for anyone interested... https://www.amazon.co.uk/R-evolution-Autobiography-Gary-Numan/dp/1472134621/ref=sr_1_1?crid=131ZZSS2X5VH1&dchild=1&keywords=gary+numan&qid=1603127027&s=books&sprefix=gary+numan%2Caps%2C274&sr=1-100101
