- WILLIAM'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUITARS. (A personal series of six string sentiments...)In William's World27 June 2020Here are two photographs pf Charlie Christian, the man who many say was the founder of the modern style of jazz guitar playing. He was one of the first guitarists to amplify his instrument and bring the guitar out of its customary role in the rhythm section, turning it into an instrument capable of soloing rather than just chord work. His inventive, 'bop-ish' lines laid the foundation for so many later jazz guitarists. Charlie died very young but his influence was profound. All guitarists owe him a dept of gratitude for opening the instrument up to the future...12

- Robby Steinhardt (Kansas) RIPIn World Outside The Window·20 July 2021Robby Steinhardt, founding member of Kansas passed away yesterday at 71. Kansas was a great live band. I first saw them back in 1975 at Winterland in SF. They opened for Blue Oyster Cult and Link Wray. Back then, they were fairly new to us. At that time, they were touring Masque. I remember walking in and seeing the stage covered in Persian rugs and packed with equipment. Even after all these years, I remember really enjoying that show. After that, I think that we saw them maybe twice more. They kind of lost me after Wayward Son. Although, like BöC, I have a lot of bootlegs because they were such a good live band. Here is a clip from a Don Kirsher Rock Concert show in 1975. Robby Steinhardt front and center. They could rock!1229

- BowieIn World Outside The Window31 August 2021Bowie Band interview. Just saw on YouTube a good recent interview with Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Gerry Leonard and others discussing Bowie. Interesting to hear the recording process. Bowie would lay down the chords of the song and the musicians would come up with their own parts. Improvising and refining their input. I'm surprised that they never had writing credits to his songs. Can you imagine "Stay" without Earl Slick's riff. Is this normal for the music industry ? Or have I misunderstood their input.12
