- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window24 May 2021@Radium Girl didn't know there was a PBS channel over there.0
- Gavin MacLeod leaves usIn World Outside The Window31 May 2021Missed his passing. RIP.00
- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window23 May 2021@Perfect Monster good points. As an outsider, someone in the USA, the attacks on and talk of dismantling both the BBC and the NSA seems unimaginable. Many of us over here admire both and other institutions like them. We have PBS and people have said that’s our version of the BBC, but that’s not really completely accurate. It carries BBC programming though.0
- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window23 May 2021😅 That’s funny that checklist for the chipper advert. I hate the abuse of the ukulele in ads and the very stew-pid whistling. The beat or something in it, in the German entry, reminded me of ‘Karma Chameleon’ by Culture Club. What was the message, though? I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t help but sense the “sorry” was in reference to WW2. Are you familiar with Frankie Grande? The front man was very Frankie. Yes, scheiße, but funny scheiße. What’s up with bizarre brass breaks, like the one you noticed in the German entry and the one I noticed and liked in the UK entry? Is there an origin story there as well?0
- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window24 May 2021@wadcorp it was pretty entertaining. Haven't checked it out for a while. People always remind me.0
- Did “Star Wars” borrow? In World Outside The Window22 May 2021Lucas also “borrowed” from the serials of the 1940s and 1950s, as well as WWII movies (especially the edits during the space battles). .0
- Happy birthday ClintIn World Outside The Window1 June 2021I saw that his stunt double, Buddy van Horn, died yesterday at 92! Van Horn was credited as the stunt coordinator on Eastwood’s films from 1972 to 2011, including 1976’s The Enforcer, 1977’s The Gauntlet and 1983’s Sudden Impact. He also served as second unit director on Eastwood’s Magnum Force and The Rookie. As an actor, Van Horn’s most prominent onscreen appearance was as Marshal Jim Duncan in 1973’s High Plains Drifter.00

- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window26 May 2021@Perfect Monster I'm with you on that. Probably because Clown Promoter In-Chief a.k.a. Rupert Murdoch has always hated the BBC. He's been promoting BozzoPooh & the Muppets for a long time here in the UK. Now that he's fled the USA from the complete Covid-19 mess his other clown, Donald Trump created, he has new designs on the UK media market. [He's been holed up about 6 miles from where I'm typing this for the last 15 months with his latest squeeze]0
- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window23 May 2021@Perfect Monster Didn’t realise the publicly-funded aspect to Eurovision. Will read the article. 🙏 Noticed recently that Princes Harry and William are blaming their mother’s demise on the BBC’s Martin Bashir. Seems like everyone’s upset at the BBC for something, but maybe that’s how it’s always been?0

- Eurovision - why do we bother? In World Outside The Window26 May 2021Ukraine 🇺🇦 was great 👍 like Le Mystère des voix bulgares 👍😮 I found that song excruciating to listen to. Of course, I felt the same way about the 'bulgares'. We really enjoyed The Roop. That was at least kitchy and fun. True Eurovision material. On the whole, I thought that this was one of the worst Eurovisions in years. Not the staging or presenters but the songs. At least we had Graham's commentary to liven it up.0

- Well, it's been a while but I've been keeping an eye on you all from afar ;-)In World Outside The Window22 November 2021😀 Hi there Michael – ah-ha, synchronicity perhaps! Glad to hear that you still listen occasionally and am forever thankful for your support of truly independent musics of all types. I've been producing new things over the years, more in the ambient/experimental genres and have plans for official releases (of old and new materials) which always seem to get held up for some reason or another, but I don't want to blab on about that too much here and will place threads in 'The World and His Wife' when appropriate. Thank you once more for the generosity of spirit that you've shown over the years, to those who languish in the lower echelons of the soaked world of music and art 😎0

- Robbie Shakespeare has left usIn World Outside The Window9 December 2021@AlanH I have to admit that the first time I heard of him was in the Sly & Robbie name drop in the lyrics of Genius of Love by Tom Tom Club, the line "Reggae's expanding with Sly and Robbie."0
- Stephen Sondheim RIPIn World Outside The Window27 November 2021Elizabeth Taylor with Stephen Sondheim, to record the songs for the film 'A Little Night Music', in 1976. - Michael Nesmith has left usIn World Outside The Window11 December 2021@wadcorp that one gave me goosebumps as 14-year-old or 15-year-old. The first time I heard it was within the context of its promo video. It was just such a surprise.0
- Michael Nesmith has left usIn World Outside The Window11 December 2021@Coach Matt agreed and among my little circle of friends and beyond, there was sometimes talk of Mike being the serious one in The Monkees. I couldn’t tell. Somehow, George Harrison blended with Mr. Spock and Davy Jones blended with Checkov in Star Trek. The Monkees, Star Trek and The Beatles all seemed kind of like one thing for me when I was a child.0
