- JapanIn World Outside The Window13 January 2021This thread made me want to hear ‘Where’s Your Gravity?’ by Mr. Stateless and listening to it I thought of it my favourite ever by Mr. Stateless and I wondered what are some other post-Japan faves. Trying to pick a favourite Japan together or solo is not really possible for me. It’s like trying to pick a favourite Bill Nelson or ... A favourite solo Sylvian though recently has been ‘Where’s Your Gravity?’ It’s a different level, I think, from Stateless. It really gives. Favourite Barbieri is stubbornly ‘Light On Glass.’ It’s shiver-me-timbers great. Favourite solo Jansen is currently ‘And Birds Sing All Night.’ ‘Serves You Rice’ is favourite Karn at present. That album that that’s from is a knockout.00

- American ProtestsIn World Outside The Window13 January 2021US presidents aside from Nixon are revered and adored, somewhere between god-kings and lovable uncles, even out-and-out war criminals, like the Bushes. Trump’s a different category all to himself, and I include Nixon in the other category that Trump’s not in so who knows what’s going to happen? My guess is that nothing will happen. Trump’s been able to get away with all these amazing, outlandish things since at least the 1980s, probably since the 1960s. That’s partly why he’s so beloved by people who love him. Certainly though, with regards to this insurrection, as it’s being called, the low-hanging fruit will be gone after and punished. The law’s ravenous for that low-hanging fruit in the US.00

- Tim Bogert RIPIn World Outside The Window15 January 2021One of my older brothers was into Vanilla Fudge. I just was so knocked out by that name when I was a little kid. Still am knocked out by it. Was reminded of them recently when I watched a video of Haruomi Hosono telling Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yukihiro Takahashi that Vanilla Fudge is great. I like their version of 'Some Velvet Morning' by Lee & Nancy.00

- Biden unveils $1.9tn US economic relief packageIn World Outside The Window15 January 2021Biden proposes more than doubling the minimum wage to $15 an hour. And importantly, this would also apply to tipped workers, eg servers and others who can currently be paid less than $2.50 an hour in some states. It'll be interesting to see how all those faux ("alt-right") dissidents who claim to love Bernie Sanders (but only as a stick to beat "libs" and "Dems" with) will react.00
