We're never going to hear the last of it, are we? Even if it were a landslide victory, some would still cry 'conspiracy!' I just hope the losing candidate doesn't agitate and instigate and rile up the crazies that tend to gravitate to the losing candidate. Whoever that candidate turns out to be.

Human nature is such that all actions toward "others" can be and have been justified. Of note here: the higher the level of governance or control, the greater the possibility of intricate and far-reaching machinations. Such are the histories of earth's cultures. Given recent events, as reported by the various news outlets and individual postings, how will we know the "true" facts?

Just watching a clip of Dominic Cummings giving evidence on UK government's handling of Covid pandemic before a joint parliamentary committee. He's basically confirming all the most scathing criticisms of Boris Johnson & co as true. Bozo portrayed as out-of-his-depth, with his head in the sand, etc. Health Secretary Matt Hancock described as serial liar (provably so). Basically the government shown as bunch of hopeless idiots with destructive incentives. Cummings: "It's clear that the official plan was wrong, it's clear the whole advice was wrong, it's clear we should have locked down in the first week of March at the latest." "In February the prime minister regarded this as just a scare story, he described it as the new swine flu." No doubt it'll lead to a lot of media reporting in the days ahead...

First heard that term "cognitive dissonance" in relation to George W Bush and by extension his administration and supporters. Did remind me immediately of musical terminology. In fact, I'd imagined John Cage's voice saying it and something that sounded like a Penderecki composition heading straight for me.

Trump is in an impossible position of his own making. How can he concede? Those who support him believe, or want to believe, the result was rigged. If he were to concede he'd be betraying all the things he has spouted and facilitated during his tenure. He'd be the president who enabled and gave in to a 'fraud'. This is to say nothing of the personal difficulties that may await him out of office. The only alternative he has to save face, as far as I can see, is to haggle to the end and to be forced out. This way, he can perpetuate his claim that he won and was cheated [along with his fans].

Maybe next time, the Republicans have a better candidate. As far as me, I'm an independent and the transition team needs to start entering offices to have information transfer smoothly. 👍
