- Remembering Keith EmersonIn World Outside The Window3 November 2019Thanks, Tom. I remember seeing this before when I was a kiddo and being freaked out by that ending. Freaked out in an invigorated sort of way. The gum chewing reminds me of John Lennon.00
- The Regal Cinema, WakefieldIn World Outside The Window3 November 2019That downward facing shot gives some perspective as to the enormity. I remember reading or hearing not long ago about the cinema-as-temple, the altar unveiled being the screen and these beautiful old cinemas illustrate the point. I don’t think I quite understand completely this thing of building on waterways. There was an ancient Roman report on a visit to England/Britain that stated succinctly that “Albion is a land of many rivers” and I suppose included in that observation are the many sub rosa ones, rivers and other bodies of water underground that people unknowingly (or knowingly) build upon? I read an interview with John Foxx from a few years back where he explained Shoreditch, where he’s lived since the ‘70s, and it’s basically just like what the name sounds like: People built upon a body of water as though there was no body of water there. “He’s a trickle down a falling wall.” Indeed.0
