- Pete Way RIPIn World Outside The Window19 August 2020UFO's last show at Winterland was a co-headline with Rush. Just two weeks after the Be Bop Deluxe / Tom Petty show. Guess you missed that one too 😀 Crazy to think that was just a few months before the Sex Pistols infamous last show there. Yep. The times were changing. The nice thing about the Bill Graham shows was the mix of groups that played on a single bill. Sometimes quite a surprise. Check this site out: https://www.chickenonaunicycle.com/Winterland%20Shows.htm I use it to remind me of the full bill of some of the shows we saw there. After 45+ years, the shows sometimes run together.0
- Pete Way RIPIn World Outside The Window18 August 2020Let It Roll is a favorite of mine too. I am bit older that you. My first was Phenomenon. I like pretty much all of their albums thru the 70's and early 80's. They lost me with Making Contact. That is one of their worst. They recovered with Covenant and Walk on Water. Those later albums are okay but they never equaled the early stuff. The late 60's and 70's were a great period for music. Still favorites from that time are UFO, Rush, Tull, Be Bop Deluxe, Mahogany Rush, Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Camel as well as a myriad of one-hit-wonders like Nutz (check out their cover of One More Cup of Coffee), Triumph (The City, Blinding Light Show), Blackfoot (Highway Song). So many great groups from that time. We were lucky enough to see many of them live (lived in SF Bay area). Hopefully you got to see your favorites too. (If UFO play in your area when they resume their ' Last Orders' tour, go see them. They were in top form last year. Phil's voice is still great.) No surprise that musicians from that time are started to pass away frequently. That ' classic rock' heyday was between 45 and 50 years ago now. In some cases longer. Given the lifestyle one supposes that many lived, it is a surprise that there are still so many still around. After all, we ain't getting any younger either 😒 From Covenant (with Pete Way) UFO [ UNRAVELED ] AUDIO-TRACK Keep your ears open. There is still some fine rock music being made today.
