- Do any of you fine people use vst instruments? In The World And His Wife17 April 2020Not really a fan of using computers to make music, but I do get a kick out of messing about with free VSTs just to get more unique sounds into my samplers. A common technique I'll try involved using TAL Sampler to give things a bit of oomph prior to putting them into the Digitakt -- that bit of kit is a bit too pristine at times. Another one I've been messing with involves making FM patches on Dexed then putting a small recording of it into the V-Synth. After that, I play to each unit's strengths: the Digitakt can give me great performance-oriented sequencing abilities while the V-Synth is a great sampler mangling tool.00
- Moon Trees. A track from my filesIn The World And His Wife1 August 2019I enjoyed your song, Peter! Brilliant vocal arrangement, and I loved the vibraphone and piano parts.00
- DAWIn The World And His Wife2 December 2019Thanks for the advice. I picked up Harrison Mixbus and a bunch of plug ins on a flash sale for $40. It looks to be pretty decent.....we'll see!00

- DAWIn The World And His Wife17 April 2020We are still using Audacity even today. The economy of its design helps us get things done after tracking everything on a 24 track digital Tascam.0
- Do any of you fine people use vst instruments? In The World And His Wife24 March 2020I have Kontakt, Reason and a few other vst's. Full Disclosure - I do not play an instrument (yet), although I am back to the beginning with my Mel Bay Guitar Method Grade 1. I have a cheap Squire Telecaster to learn. I have collected a few odds and ends for my retirement hobby. Bill is actually a great inspiration for ambient music, and I also enjoy listening to Tangerine Dream.00
- Do any of you fine people use vst instruments? In The World And His Wife31 March 2020I play a Steinberger GP guitar tuned to DADAde. A Yamaha 510v with a grover perfect nut as a steel guitar, tuned to DADF#ae, shubbs tonebar. Bone, metal, ebony and Wegen picks...and my fingers. Quad capture interface. JBL speakers. Powerful pc, windows 7. AKG 701 headphones. Reaper as a DAW. Blue cat Patchwork as a router and block/module. I put everything inside and route as needed, amazing plugin. Kazrog Thermionik as an amp (also use S Gear 2 and TH-U): from clean mellow and spark to 5150/rectifier and bassman/vox/plexi crunch madness. Recabinet 5 as a cabinet miced/IR loader with Rosen Digital Impulse Responses. Kontakt with Plethora (bought for 6 euros!) and Rhodope. Camel audio Alchemy. Miroslav Philarmonik. Flintpope and other similar ambient plugins. Sforzando as a sfz loader. Fab filter Q as an equalizer. EAReverb as a reverb. Kazrog true iron, master dither, valveq and kclip. Molot as a compressor. Blue cat Acoufiend as a feedback generator. Blue cat Late Replies as a delay/monster effect...). Portal as a monster effect. Many blue cat effects... I also have a Tech 21 Trademark 30. Various boutique pedals I want to sell, an ebow, a ZVex fat fuzz factory... There are many free VSTs and others with limited functionality (but enough functional to be able to use them in production), lots of them very powerful and light on cpu. I make most of my "noise" with the guitar (heavily processed half the time) and the few VST instruments listed. I process some things a lot and others very little to none. Dreamscapeland for me.00
- Do any of you fine people use vst instruments? In The World And His Wife25 March 2020Yes I do. I don't use loops, but play everything. I have a few vet's but prefer the actual instrument vst's (violin, piano, horns) Can I help? peterbrookesmusic@outlook.com00
- Brooksie Close Your EyesIn The World And His Wife16 May 2019Really enjoyed your song, Peter. The piano parts are lovely and I like the way you sprinkled the string parts throughout the piece - a very effective mix and arrangement! Keep up the good work!00
- Here's some recent live stuff......In The World And His Wife1 November 2021I hope further on up the road you guys get a bigger audience -- maybe it's because of the crowd not wanting to get close due to COVID. Great sounding guitar player and the vocals have a hint of Johnny Winter in the growl. I used to play in similar cover bands back in the 80s & 90s and know all the tunes. We did a lot of bars and clubs. There are people kicking around here in London, Ontario that are still doing it, but the bar crowd has dwindled and music has changed to rap. As well, the crowd is getting older and wants to stay at home these days, and there is also COVID. You guys sound great. A blast from the past! Good luck!00
- Brooksie Close Your EyesIn The World And His Wife17 September 2019Indeed this is a lovely song and a very skilled, moving piece of audio production, kudos! Glad to learn about your soundcloud channel. Coincidentally, I've met only 4 or 5 other BBD fans here in the states in 44 years (excluding online) and of them, 2 are named Brooke and one of them, Peter.00

- Michael Nesmith has left usIn World Outside The Window11 December 2021@wadcorp that one gave me goosebumps as 14-year-old or 15-year-old. The first time I heard it was within the context of its promo video. It was just such a surprise.0
- Michael Nesmith has left usIn World Outside The Window11 December 2021@Coach Matt agreed and among my little circle of friends and beyond, there was sometimes talk of Mike being the serious one in The Monkees. I couldn’t tell. Somehow, George Harrison blended with Mr. Spock and Davy Jones blended with Checkov in Star Trek. The Monkees, Star Trek and The Beatles all seemed kind of like one thing for me when I was a child.0

- Thomas 'Mensi' Mensforth, RIPIn World Outside The Window14 December 2021Checking out the numbers you've recommended. 'Who Killed Liddle Towers'. Almost Beatles-like in the chords department and it's got psychedelic touches throughout. Beatle John might've liked this one, methinks. So far what I've heard of TAU there's much more musicianship and chops than many of the scene. Was the three-chord ethos really adhered to as much as was hyped though? 😶 Wonder if they shared a bill with '70s Ultravox!. 'Teenage Warning' is another good 'un. I like the lyrics. Mensi didn't phone in the vox it can be confidently said. 'Teenage Warning' on TOTP . . . Angelic Upstarts - Teenage Warning 'Police Oppression' starts out with the UK sirens that don't exist anymore, do they? The sirens now sound more like the US ones? 'Leave Me Alone' seems to have inspired The Violent Femmes song 'Blister In The Sun.' I see the title 'Leave Me Alone' and I think of the song by New Order, which I used to listen to often in 1983. 'Never 'Ad Nothing' I've heard before and wondered about it. Great 'un. Another familiar riff used by someone else. What is that? It actually reminds me of the groove in Sesame Street Jazzy Numbers. 😎00
