- RIP Among UsIn World Outside The Window·8 August 2023It is a sad day for millions of crewmates all around the world, as the legendary video game Among Us has recently passed away. Innersloth LLC closed thé serveurs on August 7th, 2023, due to coronavirus. Gamers in France, Hong Kong, and all over the world are devestated by the horrible news. Family Guy fans are also devastated, though not because of Among Us's iconic appearance in the beloved sitcom. Instead, they are mourning because they have such fond memories watching a fan-made gag in which Peter Griffin stands beside a bloodied crewmate while given the imposter across from him a "sus" look. This fan edit was so well made that billions of fans of both Among Us and Family Guy believed it was really in the show. https://twitter.com/lolwutburger/status/1343967219986796546?s=2021164

- A Bill Nelson MiscellanyIn William's World23 January 2021Sometimes I forget what a great draftsman you are, Bill. Reckon you could’ve gone in the direction of architecture. Was that ever of any interest to you, architecture? I think I can match the building in the photo’ easiest with the last drawing What’s a hopper? I like the clouds in the middle one. The middle one reminds me a bit of Egon Schiele. Maybe the bottom one as well. The last one reminds me slightly of the sketches that were included in textbooks at school, but only because of the splashes of colour.13

And the San Jacinto Mountains in the b.g. But it all looks the same. Could be San Gabriel Mountains, too.🤷🏻♂️🏌️♀️ https://youtu.be/yCTXvyTrcGU?si=xR4r9JCDgoQes-bm1
- A Bill Nelson MiscellanyIn William's World17 May 2020GLOBAL VILLAGE: THE GIG LIST. I think this may have appeared on the old site but it's the perfect topic for this thread. In the '60s I had a band called 'Global Village.' We played psychedelic rock and blues music. We were a three piece band with the brief addition of a keyboard player who didn't stay long. Bryan Holden, the band's drummer, kept a diary with the list of gigs we played back then. Here's his list, complete with a few of his recollections about particular gigs. It may prove interesting to fans who might wonder about my earlier years as a musician. Global Village Bookings – all 49 of them. 1. Friday 06/09/68 - Stanley Lane Ends Working Men’s Club, Stanley, Wakefield. 2. Saturday 07/09/68 – Smokey City, Sandal, Wakefield. Smokey City was the name given to a regular Saturday night ‘disco’ at Sandal Rugby Union Club 3. Monday 16/09/68 – Wakefield Mecca. We got to know the manager of Wakefield Mecca, a chap called Jimmy McCabe. Wakefield Mecca was roughly on the site of the Ridings Shopping Centre. Jimmy must have felt sorry for us, and gave us a spot on what was known as ‘Motown Mondays’. Needless to say our kind of music didn’t exactly fit in with the theme of the evening and we ‘died’. Nevertheless we did get the exposure! 4. Friday 27/09/68 – Wakefield Mecca – at least somebody liked us! Perhaps Jimmy McCabe! 5. Saturday 12/10/68 – Brown Calf, Ackworth, nr Pontefract. This was a 21stbirthday party, but I can’t remember whose. 6. Saturday 19/10/68 – St. George’s Youth Club, Wakefield. I seem to remember this is on Dewsbury Road in Wakefield. 7. Friday 08/11/68 – Stanley Lane Ends Working Men’s Club, Stanley, Wakefield. 8. Saturday 09/11/68 – Smokey City, Sandal, Wakefield. 9. Saturday 16/11/68 – Bretton Hall (Teacher Training College nr Wakefield). I seem to recall that we played in a hall which had a stage at each end of the room. At the other end was a band called ‘Whiskey Martin’s Procul Orchestra’. 10. Friday 13/12/68 – Batley College of Art. 11. Friday 20/12/68 - Stainforth Central Club. 12. Tuesday 24/12/68 – Smokey City, Sandal, Wakefield. 13. Thursday 16/01/69 – Huddersfield Technical College. 14. Saturday 01/02/69 - Bretton Hall (Teacher Training College nr Wakefield). Played alongside a band called ‘Skin Deep’ 15. Saturday 15/02/69 – Builders Exchange Club, Hudderfsield. The first of many….a great venue….amps turned up at max……sweat running down the walls…encore after encore! 16. Friday 21/02/69 – Hall Road Working Men’s Club, Armley, Leeds. We died here! Typical WMC – volume at zero, “Turn it Down!”. When’s t’bingo comin’ on? 17. Saturday 22/03/69 – Builders Exchange Club, Huddersfield. 18. Saturday 19/04/69 – Wakefield Technical College. This is the gig where we were supposed to be playing alongside a soul band who didn’t turn up! We ended up playing their spots as well with impromptu renditions of ‘In the Midnight Hour’ etc! According to my diary we got £35 for the night – we normally got about £12 - £15. 19. Friday 09/05/69 – Normanton Grammar School, nr Castleford. I remember for this gig we borrowed some ‘Orange’ amps from a guy in Huddersfield and they were the bees’ knees; we borrowed his amps on several occasions (the old Vox’s and Selmer’s being a bit tired). I’ve also got some photos of this gig, but can’t recall who took them. 20. Friday 06/06/69 – Stanley Lane Ends Working Men’s Club, Stanley, Wakefield. Page 2 (Bryan's list takes up two pages on the text he sent me, so, as he's typed it, the actual 'count' of gigs starts at number 1 again on the second page, but it's actually gig number 21, and so on up to gig 49.) 1. Saturday 07/06/69 - Bretton Hall (Teacher Training College nr Wakefield). Played alongside a band called ‘House’ 2. Friday 27/06/69 – Thornes House School, Wakefield. 3. Sunday 29/06/69 – Peel Hotel, Leeds City Centre. 4. Saturday 26/07/69 – Our Free Concert in Clarence Park, Wakefield. Several photos are around of this event. 5. Saturday 02/08/69 – Builders Exchange Club, Huddersfield. 6. Sunday 03/08/69 – Peel Hotel, Leeds City Centre. 7. Saturday 06/09/69 – Open Air Concert at Hyde Park, Leeds. The ‘stage’ was the flat trailer off an articulated lorry. The organisation was non-existent, and unfortunately the local TV station (Yorkshire, I think) sent a camera crew to film the event. The following Monday (8thSeptember) it appeared on the local evening news programme (‘Calendar’) with us performing, but being overdubbed with a Duane Eddy track, whilst the commentary took the p**s somewhat! 8. Friday 12/09/69 – Tadcaster Youth Club. 9. Wednesday 17/09/69 – Blackburn Hall, Rothwell, nr Leeds. 10. Sunday 21/09/69 – Peel Hotel, Leeds City Centre. 11. Sunday 12/10/69 – Grand Hotel, Harrogate (!) 12. Saturday 18/10/69 – Painthorpe Country Club, nr Wakefield. 13. Sunday 26/10/69 – Dewsbury Youth Club. 14. Friday 31/10/69 – Eastmoor, nr Wakefield, Youth Club. 15. Saturday 01/11/69 – Builders Exchange Club, Huddersfield. 16. Saturday 22/11/69 – Olympic Rollerama, Leeds. Guess we played whilst the punters skated! Pete Bradley’s first gig. 17. Tuesday 02/12/69 – Charade Club, Rotherham, South Yorks. 18. Friday 12/12/69 – Batley College of Art.The only thing I remember about this booking is as we were setting up a number of Hell’s Angels came in for an innocent chat….however later in the evening a ‘rumble’ did break out as we were on stage! 19. Thursday 18/12/69 – Thornes House, Wakefield. Pete Bradley’s last gig! 20. Wednesday 31/12/69 – Smokey City, Sandal, Wakefield. 21. Sunday 11/01/70 – Tavern in the Town, Westgate, Bradford. This is where, at the end of the night and as we were loading up the van, we were approached by a couple of police officers who insisted on searching Global Van – apparently two people fitting the description of Global Alan (Quinn) and Global Babs (my then girlfriend, later to become my wife) were seen pinching a belisha beacon off its post! Innocence proclaimed and acknowledged all round! 22. Saturday 24/01/70 – Builders Exchange Club, Huddersfield. 23. Tuesday 10/02/70 – ‘Heartbeat’, Bradford 24. Sunday 22/03/70 – Tavern in the Town, Westgate, Bradford. 25. Saturday 09/05/70 – Fraternity Hall, Huddersfield. Played alongside ‘Jupiter’s Child’. 26. Saturday 16/05/70 – Builders Exchange Club, Huddersfield. 27. Saturday 13/06/70 - Bretton Hall (Teacher Training College nr Wakefield). 28. Friday 26/06/70 – Moortown (Leeds), Rugby Union Football Club. 29. Saturday 25/07/70 – Builders Exchange Club, Huddersfield.13

- Comic CornerIn World Outside The Window6 April 2021Does anyone remember Custom Car Magazine from the 70s and 80s? It had a monthly comic strip about a rubbish super hero called Super CC and his sidekick girlfriend Super Cecilia. I collected a number of issues and was going to scan one and post it, but flipping through them, I quickly realised they were all far too un-PC. They are funny, though.13

- Jets at DawnIn William's World·1 August 2020Just roused the neighbours with my annual Jets at Dawn observance. "The calendar said first of August." It does indeed. I've been doing this [every year I remember, which isn't all of them] for about 40 years. It reminds me of summers past, loves lost; a general melancholy, but tempered by that kind of "England between the wars" reminiscence, of innocence, cricket on the village green - something I don't think ever truly existed but seems to linger as some kind of odd 'racial memory' - probably based on old black & white movies rather than reality. Every year I ask myself, "Would it have been better if that guitar had been in tune?" Every year, the answer is, "No". I'm normally very sensitive to tuning, but I really like the fragility it gives to the overall track. Beautiful.13216
- The Jewel - eagerly anticipated! In William's World9 April 2020Wow, I didn't realize the digital download would be available the same day as the physical release. I'm a BN completist in terms of his music but not necessarily the physical CDs. I would have gladly given up my CD to someone who missed out had I known this was immediately available. Actually it's available now while my CD is somewhere over the Atlantic! Perhaps I should have known about the simultaneous release but I haven't been following the forum as often as I had been. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the music. Per samples it sounds like a laid-back soundtrack for a quiet C-19 afternoon indoors.13
- Wants his treatment for allIn World Outside The Window·8 October 2020Why doesn't he generate a proclamation to that affect and ask the Congress to pass legislation to that effect and build an infrastructure to implement or provide existing hospitals/care centers with the treatment. Why haven't his advisors proposed this? Collusion? Why has the press not asked this question of him? Collusion? Why haven't legislators and senators proposed this. Collusion? Why hasn't his base demanded this? Collusion? Has stated we are in a war with COVID-19. Why not implement the War Powers Act to implement the above? Collusion? Or is he more interested in packing the Supreme Court and courts (his legacy?) {Or is he just blowing air out of his back end about treatment for all?} (protest) I'm requesting the above treatment be available for all (if they want it). I don't think this protest/request could be more peaceful - unless is was not posted at all - LOL1352
