- Bill plays steel guitarIn William's World·26 December 2020Hi everyone, hope you are having a good Xmas, despite the circumstances. I've been listening to "Wakefield via time machine" on Bill's YouTube channel, a video for Bill's 'New Northern Dream' launch party in October 2016. If you haven't heard this, you should. At about 14:02 is a track which sounds like Bill paying a steel or lap steel guitar. It's superb! Does anyone know what album track this is? And is it a steel guitar, or slide playing on a regular guitar, I wonder? Whatever it is, I love it! best wishes to all! Toby21151

- Early 1970s Blackpool in Summer, UK in HD from 35mmIn William's World4 May 2020Thanks for that, Alec. No social distancing on the beach back then, eh? Found this documentary from 1973. It has a fair bit of Pleasure Beach footage and the Illuminations too. Of course, I was there as a kid in the 1950s and early '60s when the place seemed a bit nicer, but that's maybe just a subjective view I had as a child. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq7gL-bdxpA21
- Early 1970s Blackpool in Summer, UK in HD from 35mmIn William's World5 May 2020Since Bill has a track on the first record called Northern Dreamer (1957), maybe that's why YouTube's algorithms decided it was time for this? 🤔😊 Blackpool Holiday, 1957 ... blackpool Holiday 195721

- WILLIAM'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF GUITARS. (A personal series of six string sentiments...)In William's World16 June 2020AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THIS THREAD, GUITARS ARE BLESSED WITH THE ABILITY TO TAKE ON VIRTUALLY ENDLESS DESIGNS, SOME BEAUTIFUL, SOME STRANGE, SOME WEIRD AND WONDERFUL, SOME TOTALLY ECCENTRIC. THERE'S FAR LESS SCOPE IN MANY OTHER INSTRUMENTS FOR SUCH A WIDE VARIETY OF STYLINGS. A SAXOPHONE, FOR INSTANCE, WILL MORE OR LESS ALWAYS BE THE SAME SHAPE. BUT ADVENTURES IN GUITAR DESIGN BEGAN A LONG TIME AGO. TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VERY OLD PHOTOGRAPH OF A MAN PLAYING A DOUBLE NECK GUITAR WITH A LYRE SHAPED BODY AND ATTACHED TRUMPET-LIKE INSTRUMENTS.21
