- 'Do you Dream in Colour' on Marillion LP sleeveIn William's World·5 May 2022May have been remarked on before, but in case not: - One of the comments posted to Youtube for Bill's classic 'Do you Dream in Colour?' video states that the commenter had gone searching for the record after seeing its cover pictured on a Marillion LP sleeve. Hmm - I hadn't heard that before, so I went looking - and indeed here it is, on the back cover of Marillion's 1983 'Script for a Jester's Tear' LP. I've blown it up for you to compare. You're welcome! Apparently, the other records shown are Pink Floyd's 'A Saucerful of Secrets', and a couple of Marillion singles.21346

- New Vibrato WonderlandIn William's World9 January 2021My world ended when baseball was shut down in March 2020. Shortly thereafter my employer furloughed everyone for 3 plus months and after they brought us back, reduced our hours and had periodic shut downs. So plenty of stay at home time. The governor shut down whole segments of our economy, so there wasn't anywhere to go, even if I wanted to. This made Christmas shopping different. But Bill put out these couple of albums and I have been listening at home a lot. I have a continued appreciation for Jazz of Lights, Arcadian Salon and the new to me reissued together as a complete collection for the first time ever ABM singles with bonus tracks. I have had several COVID-19 tests due to exposure and they have all come back negative. I have been told that as a Tribal Elder with underlying health conditions I will be prioritized for the vaccine. Yaaaah. It won't give me superpowers, I have been listening to the Dreamers Companion Volumes as well. So get well. In in the meantime, live well.21
- The Love that Whirls AlbumIn William's World3 January 2021Reading on, in Electronic Music Maker 1982 Bill mentions "I've got the little VL-Tone, tapping out the two buttons for real fast, rippling little runs of sequencer-like things." he goes on to say " The one problem I've found with the VL is that when you get to the end of the 'sequence' it glitches as it goes through — the thing to do to get round that is to press the red 'reset' button just before you get to the repeat point, that way it returns to the beginning without a glitch." This was a reference to recording 'The Cabinet of Caligari' at the Echo Observatory but I presume it could have been used on the 'Love that Whirls' unless there was access to another form of sequencing' at that time.21
- The Love that Whirls AlbumIn William's World3 January 2021"But many of the sounds were generated from guitar by using an E-bow fed to a noise gate triggered by hi hat patterns which created a synthy sort of sound." 🙏 Thanks for that, Bill. This brings into focus for me that driving, crazy, addicting feeling throughout 'Flaming Desire.' The sound’s so weirdly difficult to comprehend, the “beast is unchained” sounding groove. I remember being at a club called The I-Beam, which was later called The Thirsty Swede and, like other times before in other settings, so many bodies undulating and flailing around when that song erupted through the speakers. No one’s ever done anything quite like it. 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' by Dead Or Alive always to me sounds like it was made by a couple of guys who were admirers of and inspired by ‘Flaming Desire’ and wanted to recreate a similarly frantic feel. A completely different result of course and yet it does remind me of ‘Flaming Desire.’ I remember I had a mix tape that included ‘Flaming Desire’ and the very much opposite sounding ‘Flaming’ by Pink Floyd, from ‘Piper At The Gates Of Dawn’ on it just to have two song titles with the same word in their titles on.. Every song on ‘The Love That Whirls’ though has been a favourite at one time or another. I reckon that ‘Waiting For Voices’ is the one that brings about something uniquely transformative and uplifting. ⭐️☁️21

- Harold BuddIn William's World25 January 2021Some time around 1953 - he must have been 16 - he remembers bunking off school and driving to the coast with some friends listening to AM radio. One track stood out. "Jesus Christ! What is that?" "Stan Getz, man." Getz's "Indian Summer" electrified him. He recalls, in some detail, the complex emotional reaction he had to the track. It wasn't just that it made him feel good. What made the music even more poignant was the sense that despite its beauty, he says, he couldn't feel good all the time. Enthused by Getz, he took up jazz drums, playing in local go-nowhere bands. The following year he fell in love with Lenny Tristano's "Line Up" and remembers thinking, "Nothing is ever going to top this..." ... from The Independent21
