- Happy Heavenly Birthday Mick KarnIn World Outside The Window24 July 2023😟 12 years already? Goodness me, I would never have thought that! Time is flying too too fast!!! One of my favourite musicians too, from one of my favourite bands - I still miss his presence in the world of music - a hugely talented man - gorgeous fretless bass, sax, oboe, keyboards, vocals, composition, paintings, sculptures - did I miss anything? happy birthday to Mick Karn, wherever you are and thanks to Tourist for bringing this day to my attention.21
- Top TV TunesIn World Outside The Window30 May 2024I used to watch Barney Miller here in the UK, years ago. Remember it was on very late at night/early hours of the morning. I always really enjoyed it. Not seen an episode in a long time = will have to remedy that!....Great show!2

- Top 10 Live AlbumsIn World Outside The Window14 June 2024I listen mostly to bootlegs of the 'classic' bands these days. A list of 10 official live albums is tough. (Of course, many bootlegs, such as the best BBD, Pink Floyd, Hendrix recordings, have now been officially released.) Here are few that aren't mentioned above: Lou Reed - Rock 'n' Roll Animal Genesis - Live (1973) - The bootlegged 'original' 2-lp version includes Supper's Ready Yes - Yessongs Allman Brothers - Live at Fillmore East Al Stewart - Uncorked Camel - Pressure Points (2009 expanded version) BBD - Live at the Riviera Theater (Bootlegged but now released as part of Modern Music reissue) Bob Dylan - Live Manchester 1966 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bootleg_Series_Vol._4:_Bob_Dylan_Live_1966,_The_%22Royal_Albert_Hall%22_Concert) Something more recent Slift - Levitation Sessions https://slift.bandcamp.com/album/levitation-sessions21

- A Day in 1930s London, in colour...In World Outside The Window15 October 2022Utterly mesmerizing. Incredible clarity and lighting - watched on large full screen, you can put yourself right into the scene. That section on the train platform (7 mins in) - absolutely chilling, the detail and sense of being present there. As Tourist and Orphan note, the elegance of the formal dress. The absence of phones held in crouching faces - just how did they survive! I wonder if it was digitally enhanced beyond the "usual" kind of restoration and addition of sound/colour? AI? Certainly it looks better than anything I've seen from that period before. Thanks for posting, Tourist.21

- My first release in decadesIn The World And His Wife15 June 2021Just had a listen to your new release Martin and before I make a comment, I must stress it's not influenced by your (kind and generous) post in the BN potential album covers thread. Well, what a wonderful EP, knocked my socks off immediately and I really love it. A great balance of songs that flow really well...The opener, 'House Of Cards', could easily be a piece for film or TV..and similar thoughts for 'Dust', with it's slightly more melancholic edge..Opening and closing tracks, for opening and closing credits?...well, what do I know?..lol...but that's the instant vibe I got...great stuff. The remaining four track are right up my street, fantastically atmospheric and ambient..'Targets' is simply beautiful, 'Mist' could easily be from a forthcoming BN release, 'Red Sky #1', I love it's dark and brooding soundscape, wonderful and 'Red Sky #4', again, simply beautiful, perfect track to end. You certainly have your own sound Martin, great playing all round..and I can hear little hints of Bill Nelson and Robert Fripp in your playing and composition, but still very much your own work..I presume they may be an influence to your playing?..to my ears at least. Finally, I think you have kept the length of tracks and the overall length of the EP just right...It's tight and concise, keeps a great flow without 'meandering' for too long and getting lost and kind of has that less is more, re track length, keeping you absolutely fixed on the overall recording and then leaving you wanting more! Superb mate, well done......You should be proud. ...Nearly forgot to mention, love the album artwork too...👍21

- NEXT YEAR'S NEW RELEASE. WHAT SHOULD IT BE?In William's World29 November 2020I'm not sure how many there are waiting for issue now, but how about a box set to clear the decks?21
- NEXT YEAR'S NEW RELEASE. WHAT SHOULD IT BE?In William's World25 November 2020The last time Bill upgraded his studio to the Mackie system we ended up with the fabulous Noise Candy set, although I don’t think the experience was particularly pleasant for Bill. How about doing something similar to “clear the decks (disks?!)”, I’m sure with Burning Shed or Cherry Reds help the result could be a whole lot more painless? Mick21
- NEXT YEAR'S NEW RELEASE. WHAT SHOULD IT BE?In William's World25 November 2020I just love the title (and idea) of 'Stupid Serious' - we are currently living in very serious times and I think we all need a bit of stupid, just to balance the scales! 😎21

- Are there any Yann Tomita fans here?In World Outside The Window·1 March 2022Yann Tomita and Bill Nelson have a lot in common, so I was wondering if any of you Bill Nelsonheads were familiar with him. Both Yann and Bill (Nelson) have worked with Ryuichi Sakamoto (of YMO fame) before, so maybe you guys would like Tomita's music. If you're interested, I recommend starting with the album Doopee Time. (Also, if you find that you like Yann's music and want to meet like-minded people, check this link out https://discord.gg/K2vGQRhxvC )2155
