It's a cracking recording, and I remember hearing it on the John Peel show at the time. Peel's typically droll introduction to that track was something like "Another track from Bill Nelson in session now - this is a version of one of his, er, 'hits'..." Interesting that you think it has the TLTW vibe. I guess it's edging in that direction, but I tend to think of it as 'classic' Practical Dreamers sound. If my memory serves me well, this would have been recorded at the time of the PD's 1981 tour, and is therefore a perfect sample of what the band sounded like 'live' (or close to). Such an interesting phase of Bill's career this. He was going really left-field pop with tracks like RWBV. Commercial suicide, in a sense, after Be Bop Deluxe, but I love the fact that he took this anti-career move.

Sometime ago managed to digitize the vinyl output (7 and 12 inches) from 1979 to 1995. Here is that listed by recordlabel and lenght. My two cents ;-)

Thanks for the reply Geetar, as I always appreciate your expert knowledge re all that is Wakefield, past and present, and have always enjoyed reading your posts, related to....It's nice to be optimistic, and I hope all works out well for this area, I really do......but, I stand by my comment, and building new houses on land that used to be a thriving commercial area, is not the answer to dying highstreets.

I’m not a ‘friend’ of Bills on Facebook and the background to that is at the time he started on there I was avoiding all social media and I mistakenly as it turns out assumed he would continue to use this, his own dedicated website (Dreamsville) to keep fans posted. By the time I realised Bill was primarily using FB to communicate with his followers and took the step of opening an account with the sole purpose of keeping up to date with his activities, was unable to be his friend as he’d already acquired 5,000 ‘friends’, which I understand is the maximum he was / is allowed to have. I’ve had an open request on FB to become Bills friend on there for ages now – I’m always hopeful! On a positive note though, I am a member of the excellent Bill Nelson and Be Bop Deluxe (official FB group) and strangely don’t have any of these problems, not even with Bills own posts on there?: -
