- Listening to the lotIn William's World16 February 2020Have thought of listening to the entire Bill Nelson discography in chronological order as well, ever since I started saying that I consider everything he's done from 1970 onward is, to me, like one, long album.21

- PhotosIn World Outside The Window20 November 2023Ha!, I like it...Even though 'Little Lemmy' is (I won't say crucified) 'attached' to a guitar, and not a bass, Lemmy did play guitar in the second line-up of Sam Gopal, and indeed with his first band, The Rockin Vickers. It seems that Lemmy starting out as a guitar player is one of those little know facts, not that it's important, but I find all that kind of stuff, i.e. the history of bands and musicians, very interesting...and I do have a bit of a soft spot for Sam Gopal.2

- Listening to the lotIn William's World16 February 2020It's a life-long pursuit! I jump around between eras and revisit older releases often...there are always some gems hidden in there that might not have grabbed me on the first listen. Maybe keep a diary of what you listen to and you'll have a good variety.21

- Another car for Bill 👍In William's World4 October 2023Yes!..😎👍 ...Life Magazine Cover May 1st 1964 ..."Some of the best photos of the futuristic concept cars came from GM in 1964, when General Motors revisited the future with Futurama II at the New York World’s Fair. The first Futurama was a ride at the 1939 New York World’s fair. The updated 1964 Futurama II offered it’s riders a glimpse into what life in the year 2024 would be like. It was to be a “Millennium of Progress” to celebrate the boundless potential of science and technology for human advancement. It was a time in America’s history when it was at the very crest of its post war (World war II) technological and economic prowess. This time around, the world had plenty of modernist architecture and multi-lane highways, so GM decided to make a Futurama for the Space Age and show all the Space Age technology and dreams of the future and its transportation, including the cars of the future." Interestingly, this edition of Life magazine (01/05/64) is readily available on eBay, at a reasonable price. - RIP Steve HarwellIn World Outside The Window·4 September 2023I am afraid to say that a NOT so epic bacon moment happened today. On 4 September, 2023, Steve Harwell of Smash Mouth fame died of an ongoing liver disease at age 56, being told hé had only days to live. Thé singer and songwriter and main frontman of the band Smash Mouth was known for his Smash Hit, « All Star » , which was famously used in the Shrek movie (produced by Ford) The song later became a même in general but was still a great staple of early 2000s alternative. Harwell also enjoyed getting intoxicated every now and then like our fellow Aussie friend « Jean-Michel Jarre » , however to a degree that even more sinister things were brewing in the northern hemisphere, including doing à Nazi salute in front of loyal fans. Harwell announced retirement from this incident and entered rehab until his death. He will live comfortably in all the hearts of all the Shrek and Dreamworks (including Kung Fu Panda 2) fans.2194

- “Speedboats From Another World” and British Home StoresIn William's World·8 September 2023On the Wakefield Historical Appreciation Site on Facebook, Bill recently posted a comment below a photograph titled "Wakefield Kirkgate 1965" .... 'That was a great shopping street. The original British Home Stores was a place my mother shopped at often. They sold all sorts of stuff, even a small range of model kits. I got my first model kit from there in the 50s, a little speedboat in pale green plastic. It set me off on a great hobby and I built so many kits back then'. This immediately caused me to listen to Speedboats From Another World from Modern Moods For Mighty Atoms and The Marvelous Model Kit from Clocks & Dials. Here's the post ....21149

- Picasso - Beauty and the BeastIn World Outside The Window·29 September 2023The BBC have just aired a 3 part documentary on Picasso. Hopefully it will be available worldwide soon. I didn't know much about him before and I found the series fascinating , enlightening and at sometimes a bit concerning. I won't spoil it for others by saying any more. The soundtrack too was very good, especially episode 2. Highly recommend watching this when it is available in your region.2155
