Finally replaced my 10-yr-old laptop, as it was slowing to a halt, and the messages I got when browsing changed from "Some functionality of this website may not work with your browser version" to "What the hell is this operating system, Dude, Windows 3.1!!?" After looking at reviews of mid range models I chose a Lenovo Ideapad 15.6" screen with an AMD Ryzen CPU, which scored well on performance.
Big mistake. Worst screen I've ever seen - poor contrast (no black, just muddy dark greys), inaccurate, low-saturation colours (which no amount of altering colour calibration helps). It makes my old laptop (which was a budget model itself) look like a high-end Apple by comparison.
Just thought I'd mention it if anyone else is buying a Windows laptop. It may be good performance, but if visuals are important, forget it!
I'm gonna buy a new MacBook I guess, after all the Christmas fuss. Buying a new MacBook is exciting no matter how you look at it because it's the best laptop I've ever owned, stylish, and works fast. They're high-tech devices that have revolutionized our daily lives in profound ways. However, I'm worried about the price. Because of tax raises it is gonna cost me a lot. By the way, I'm so annoyed with how much fuel costs and transportation. I have a business and it affects me a lot. Thank god at least I don't have to worry about the documentation stuff like cmr documents now because I have cmr pdf generator service.
That was some months ago. Like someone in Plato's cave, I regard what I'm seeing as normal now. No doubt I'll get a pleasant surprise when I change to a new PC (with a decent display) in 10 years.
