I saw The Sweet 'live' in 1973?, with The Groundhogs as support. My ears were ringing for days after...hell, they were both stupidly loud. Sweet, actually were a 'heavy' band playing live...as they used to say... totally different to their singles material. Tony Mc Phee of the Groundhogs was pretty awsome... not sure if their music will have stood the test of time though.
The Sweet were a great band and I really loved them early to mid 1970's..They had some really great singles out in this period, with some great B-sides to boot!.
A lot of people don't realise just what a powerful band they were, they were a great rock band, and could play the glam/chart side as well, with equal aplomb, pretty much like Slade in that respect.
"Are you ready Andy... Steve, well lets go..."
