Had a conversation with them all in Tower Records, Berkeley, CA, in 1980 and they all signed my copy. I remember asking Midge Ure if Mr. X was possibly a reference John Foxx and he laughed and told me to ask Warren, who said, "Could be!" Chris looked the other way with a blank expression. Billy chortled. I remember Midge asking ME what I thought of critics comparing this version of Ultravox to John Foxx and Gary Numan. Told him I thought it was to be expected because of the catchy melodies sometimes doubled with a synth line (don't know where that came from) and he said, "Ah, yeh ... could be but ... I just don't hear it ... I think we're going in a different direction." Midge is such a nice guy.
Since Ian Hunter changed the name of England Rocks to Cleveland Rocks, he should've covered Houston by Lee Hazlewood whilst playing a gig in Houston, methinks.
