I was working nights at the time, and when I came home the morning after John was murdered it was on the news. I remember being stunned, as well as saddened. I wish I could say that sort of senseless violence was a thing of the past in this country. 😞
This is a cool thread, and I really don't contribute to it as much as I should.
I remember, or get prompted in some way, something that deserves a post in this slot, then I end up getting sidetracked with work or something and next thing you know you missed that day.
Point?, well, I was going to post this yesterday...and got sidetracked. So, this is a day late, but well worth remembering.
I've been on a T. Rex kick lately, and today I listened to A Beard Of Stars, T. Rex and Tanx. While listening, I found out that Tanx was released March 16, 1973. Fifty years ago today. 😎
Well spotted!...Where did all that time go?...It went so quickly, or so it seems.
I'm a massive T-Rex fan and bought most of the 70's albums and singles.
Tanx is a favourite, along with Electric Warrior and The Slider.
...and, Solid Gold Easy Action, could well be my favourite T-Rex single. I remember buying it from my local Woolworths record-bar on release, as if it were yesterday. I asked the girl serving behind the counter to play it on their in-store sound system, which she did, with a big smile on her face, and I walked out like I was 10 feet tall..😜😎
As Marc Bolan said, "One day we change from children into people."😉
I miss those record store days. They were good times. The manager at one store would even front me the album, and I could settle with him on payday. Definitely some good times. 😎
4 February 1974: 19-year-old newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst is kidnapped from her Berkeley, California apartment by a left-wing urban guerrilla group called the Symbionese Liberation Army.
I remember seeing this in the last "movie palace" in our city. Quite an experience. Now when I watch it, I still like it, but it seems a bit dated. Such in cinema in life!
@Serge Ruel it felt out of date the first time I saw it. My first Spaghetti Western was 'My Name Is Nobody' when I was age 8. It was the magical music by Ennio Morricone that drew me in. I've had a sort of Spaghetti Western obsession since then.
Sarah Vista over in England shares a similar albeit more intense SW obsession and creates music and promo videos that continues the tradition forward . . .
It’s such a memorable image. I associate it with Christopher Lee saying he was drunk. In the Wikipedia entry, photographer Clive Arrowsmith is quoted regarding a “substance haze.” Those besides Linda and Paul in the photograph are Michael Parkinson, Kenny Lynch, James Coburn, Clement Freud, Christopher Lee and John Conteh.

Frank Zappa and the Mothers were at the best place around,

If you don't know, I'm not going to tell you. Ask yer granpa.
I do sometimes wonder how the stupid with the flare gun felt about being immortalised in one of the most famous rock songs ever ... but couldn't admit it :)
