It's not a good situation, but I would accept preventative voting in the UK if only it would remove the current mob who have been running things for 12 years.

Indeed. Just a pity it didn't happen in 2016. A lot of Americans who dislike Trump didn't bother voting, apparently, because they already thought Hillary had the election in the bag, and they weren't too enamored of her either.
