I just realized that the theme song for the ‘70s television show “Eight Is Enough” might have been inspired by “My Cup Runneth Over.” It sounds like Grant Goodeve was trying to sing like Ed Ames.
I inherited one of my older brother’s coonskin caps and wore it to grammar school but I think that was inspired by the TV show “Davy Crockett,” which I saw more often for whatever reason, which is interesting because it originally aired 10 years before.
I got Crockett and Boone confused and kids were getting into barneys over who was “better,” Davy Crockett or Daniel Boone, sometimes either after I was praised or derided for wearing the coonskin cap.
Mingo was always praised though so some kids were watching more than I was.

It's a beautiful and enchanting song. His voice is amazing. I used to hear that song as a child as well.
The television show “Daniel Boone” I think aired when I was at school during the weekdays.
Ed Ames would've been perfect on “Star Trek.”
