Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea (12 June, 1941 – 9 February, 2021) . . . saw him perform live once performing that unique form of music he made.
Sad that he left us today, but I'll admit I'm glad that as of now at least it appears that the cause of death wasn't related to the super-duper, ever-changing virus.
Chick was a brilliant composer, performer, and arranger. In the ARP vs. Moog battle of the 70's, he used both synths; as comfortable on the ARP Odyssey as he was on the MiniMoog. His use of the mod wheels on the latter was awesome, bending and modulating the notes in his solos. A brilliant asset to Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" sessions and in his own band Return To Forever, he earned 23 Grammy Awards. His music and legacy live on. RIP Chick.
Was playing this yesterday. A classic.
.
Saw Return to Forever when Al Jareau was with them. Amazing talent. Saddens me.
Same here. First saw Chick during a Return To Forever concert in May 1975.
Had the opportunity to see him a couple other times. Magic.
This one really hurts. I have seen him perform numerous times, and his evident joy in every moment was such a pleasure to see. A huge talent, a good guy and a jazz legend. He will be sorely missed.
