@Tourist when I was a kiddo there was a kid named Mike Wilson who lived a couple of mountains away who had this big train set in a big, dark room ... and we'd do that for a while, he'd smoke dope, we'd ride his dirt bikes and we'd play doorbell ditch, throw fire crackers, shoot sling shots and shoot bottle rockets.
He was into Motörhead and introduced me to that music and the music of Hawkwind, T-Rex, Syd Barrett, Parliament/Funkadelic, Alice Cooper, KISS, Sweet ... all manner of stuff I knew nowt.
Another person he was into was Chris Spedding and this track got heard often ... and I was so addicted to it ... and hadn't thought of it for ages until YouTube gave it back to me a couple of months ago ...
I was a morose young man; here I am brooding near Winchester in 1972. Looking like George Harrison and listening to him too, along with Dylan and The Velvet Underground. That was the year I began to saturate myself in Syd Barrett, but sadly I never developed his hair. I was still five years off writing my first decent songs. Standing in the Talbot in my flares...
Great pic alec🙂...Don McCullin, one of my favourite photographers...always captures the gritty reality and 'truth' in his images. His intent is clear to see..very powerful.
Celebrating William Blake, born this day in Soho, London, 1757.
Allen pictured here in front of Blake’s cottage in Felpham where he spent the only three years of his life he lived outside London, where he stood trial for treason, and is where he wrote "And did those feet in ancient time" now known as the hymn Jerusalem, a national anthem for England & hymn to dissent.
The Blake Society was able to purchase the cottage in 2015, one of only two remaining structures he lived in, and it is now held in trust for perpetuity. (photo Chris Schwartz courtesy Allen Ginsberg Collection / Stanford University Libraries)

Motor Bikin' - Chris Spedding (1975 TOTP)
@Alec Well, that's some pretty great music to get introduced to, so good on him😎
I remember buying the Chris Spedding single when it came out, I would have been 15.
Blimey, not thought about him in a long time. Might revisit some of his stuff via YT...when I get a chance.
Lemmy looking really cool on a Triumph
This bike actually belonged to JJ Burnel, of The Stranglers.
