Astrophobia (J)...I miss you mate!
This place has never been the same since you left.
If by some chance you happen to read this, I hope you are well and doing good,
and keeping floating above all the world negativity and seeming freefall downwards.
Your pal, Nick.
Alec: I felt I was spending way too much time here. Not getting much feedback on posts, so I’ve been hanging out more on the wine-centric site I’d been neglecting.
Will be popping in from time to time, but not loitering all day.
.
Andy George. Wadcorp. Where are they?
I liked that guy who seemed laser focused on new wave. He got in trouble for selling Bill’s newest releases for bonkers prices on eBay, etc.? Anyone remember that guy’s name? 🫢
Cluppo has a cute video on You Tube. The lead singer is the founding member of Band Maid - who have many videos on You Tube.
Once upon a time Yellow Magic Orchestra ruled the airwaves. Bill actually played on albums and toured with Yukihiro Takahashi. Ryuchi Sakamoto came from that band and has done outstanding music. I actually love his piano work.
Bill also produced Gillcover and the Monkey. Brilliant guitar pop.
Alec has posted videos from Pizzicato Five that are very stylish. I find the lead singer engaging.
Maybe I got caught up in the whole Babymetal marketing campaign. I see it as almost metal workout / dance music.
There is a whole lot more. It is like another world that I have opened my eyes and ears to.
I do not understand Japanese. I like Godzilla. Does that count?
Ok, here is what I know. Once upon a time, many moons ago, Dreamsville was a vibrant community of music aficionados from around the world. Many made music and they shared their output in our little musical challenges / projects.
Times changed. Families happened. Free time and frivolity faded away. People died. Jobs and locations changed.
I love hearing from Brooksie, Eric/Bob - Electric Angels, Carole (our resident poet), and now if I do not mention everyone, they may be offended. Crap.
I think John Izzard moved from France to Wales. Dar is in the desert SW. I have lost track of Mondo. Wadcorp does my holiday cards. Alec seems to be holding up the American continency with posts and insights. Hairy Vike just disappeared. The Stasi still owes us a greatest hits collection. Lucky Spinner is still in rotation at my house / car.
Astro Boy on the Planet of the Amazon Women has taken a new meaning to me, as Amazon has eaten up the digital marketplace. Maybe the worse thing to come out of Seattle. Starbucks maybe second. KEXP maybe the best. [I dj'd when it was KCMU on the UW campus forever ago.]
My current fav music - sorry Bill - is J-Pop. Curse you, Alec! Some of the videos are just too cool!
The forum got too snobbish
Thanks for the replies guys...No, I'm not trying to contact astro, or anyone from the old forum, personally. I do miss quite a lot of the old crew who used to post regularly on the old site and the general banter it used to generate (ups and downs) and I think there was much more of a community spirit back then and so, to that extent, I do miss it...Maybe when I made the post above, I was feeling a little nostalgic/wistful/reflective. I'm sure anyone who used to be a regular and wanted to pick up the thread again on the new forum, would do so, so it's best left at that really...But I was just sending out a few nice positive vibes, in the hope that J and one or two of the old crew might just receive them...Anyway, thanks for the input and advice/ideas, much appreciated and nice to see some 'old faces' again!
Many folk from the old forum don't seem to be around on this new forum - I hardly post myself these days either - everyone is older and doing other things, I guess! May I suggest that you contact Jon Wallinger, who might at least be able to supply you with an email address for whoever it is that you miss, that's if he's allowed to give them out? 🤔
Thought I was the only one who didn't know what happened to him. I miss MondoJohnny, Felix T1, Captain Custard, Sean Mac and Sue as well as some others I can't think of at the moment.
